It got me to try out Black Desert Online, so that's a... plus? I'm probably not going to buy it unless it goes on sale but it was a somewhat fun several hours.

I also didn't receive the call that there was an event going on, so totally missed Day 1... and somehow also Day 3 - although that one's on me. Did get enough items done to get the 2nd-level badge, at least.

I learned that there's still active CounterStrike (classic!) servers around, so that's something. Also learned that, sadly, Atlas Reactor, a game I put (checks Steam) 327 hours into, is planning on shutting down soon.

Huh, Atlas Reactor is shutting down? That's odd, they filled a niche that had some good potential, with not a lot of competitors. And so far as I could tell, they had pretty good production values.

I guess they couldn't grab enough on the free-to-play model to compensate for those good production values...

Iceberg interactive is having a big 10-year anniversary sale on steam. They seem to mostly publish 4x titles and some assorted space sim stuff and a handful of random titles/genres thrown into the mix. Nothing too brilliant by the looks of it, but probably some good cheap fun for folks who are into that sort of stuff.

Mount & Blade: Warband* is a steal at 3.99, also at GOG.

The game is simply put an amazing sandbox and arguably the granddaddy of the modern (post 2011) medieval combat/ mercenary band games. There is also a fuckton of great mods ranging from those that simply add new items and those that add new mechanics to total overhauls. Last I heard someone was also trying to make a skyrim mod for it.

*The original M&B is also on sale but M&B:Warband is the same game as the original plus more. Warband is also a stand alone expansion, so you don't need the first one.

Bring Kobold Kamp to LNP! graphics compatibility fix.

So the conclusion I'm getting here is that we use QSPs because dwarves can't pilot submarines.

Mount & Blade and Warband are the same base game, but it's worth considering that the original M&B has a lot of mods that never got ported to Warband, so it's worth getting both if you like modding.

In particular, there still isn't even a warband mod this in-depth (at least as far as historical mods go)

Best historical based mod for mount and blade by far, whether it be original M&B or warband. Nothing even comes close.

I just wanted to point out that getting both isn't necessary but yes, you are right :)

I think it has a discount on Switch as well. Probably all platforms.
