See if there are any floatation devices on the vehicle.  I may not have to breathe but robots are heavy and don't float well.  I'd rather not have to walk along the bottom of a lake when we inevitably crash.

Sinpwn: Jump out of the back and swim to that there island with that there portal on it.
Ragnarok: MP/MAJIKA BUILDUP!
Japa: NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER LET DOWN, NEVER RUN AROUND AND DESERT.
Rent: See if there are any floatation devices on the vehicle.  I may not have to breathe but robots are heavy and don't float well.  I'd rather not have to walk along the bottom of a lake when we inevitably crash.
Kisame: Reinforce Obsidian warhammer with metal shards hanging around.

Sinpwn:

See Text.

Ragnarok: 4

You try to stretch your internal magical capacity again. You're not sure if its working or not, but it sure does hurt.

Japa:

That's not an action.

Rent:

Unfortunately, the van contains no floatation devices wait are we going into the water oh shit

Kisame: 5

You grab one of Sinpwn's carmintium bars (has a nice heady aroma to it) and plate the head of your warhammer with it.

Text:

The van trundles down the road to the Niben Bay, then finally reaches it- and doesn't stop.

"An announcement; I offer you my full assurances that this vehicle is capable of water travel. However, you may experience some moisture as we enter the bay. Please hold tight."

The Ultravan smashes into the surface of the bay, making a tremendous splash. It proceeds to sink about an inch into the bay, wetting everyone's shoes. It floats across the bay, rocking awkwardly, until it reaches the island in the middle of the bay.

"Unfortuantely, I do not believe the Ultravan is capable of making the climb up this path. We will have to proceed on foot. I believe Mirata can arrange for some temporary system for taking my hardware along without deactivating me."
"Umm... I'm really not familiar with this technology... this is even stranger than the stuff aboard the Olympus. I might be able to do it though."

Mirata tinkers with George's hardware and a few fission batteries for a minute, then stands back from the completed assembly.

"I believe I will be comfortable in a compartment of Mr. TolyK's HEV suit."

Toly stashes George in his suit, and the whole party jumps out of the back of the Ultravan and heads up to the portal.

WHY DID YOU HAVE ME KICK THEM WTF I DID NOT WANT TO BE SHOT AT.
I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

Test my newfound sword skills on the guard to the portal.

Wouldn't that be murder?

Yes.

Much like raining lava on the imperial city.

Yes.

No, that's manslaughter. Or possibly criminal negligence.

Head onto the island and examine my surroundings.  If there's anything that looks useful take it, if it looks breakable and might be hiding something destroy it.

Commit armed robbery on the guard and take his armor.

Scout for various electronic pieces (possibly from the van), which would be usable in an energy/gravitational manipulation weapon

Walk right into the portal. Walk out INTO MORDOR.

One does not simply walk out of a portal into Mordor.
