27th Galena

A modest trade agreement has been made with the humans. However on a more important note, our miners have struck magma. This will be instrumental in powering our forges and kilns.

22nd Limestone

The magma sea has been breached and raw adamantite has been found. Will this be a blessing or a curse only time will tell.

26th Limestone

For some reason another group of migrants have arrived even though we had sent word back that we are far above quota for this fortress. These dwarves better be useful or we may need to send them home.

26th Sandstone

It seems another dwarf has been possessed. Other than this strange occurance, things have been going on as usual. Mining efforts still reviel no metal besides the adamantite

3rd TImber

Our possessed friend seems to have regained control as he staggers out of a craftsdwarf workshop wearing an intersting claystone bracelet. Mining efforts have been diverted from exploratory mining to setting up our forges and kilns in a magma fueled space.

16th Moonstone

A yeti has attacked our camp. This is our military's first combat but they faced the beast without fear. Without high quality metal weapons the axedwarves and speardwarves took a while to take it down but we made the kill without any injuries.

25th Moonstone

Our friends have finally came with a caravan. Saddly they didn't have enough booze, or weapons for trade. However we did clean them out of wood. I sat down with thier representative to disscuss our trade agreement for next year. I have requested mostly metal and booze, aswell as supplies for our hospital. Swords, spears, and meat seem to be thier highest priority. Its interesting how they expect us to give them all of our weapons when we are the ones out in the wilderness.

28th Obsidian

The day to day has once again been interupted. This time by a band of kobold thieves. Our military swiftly killed them before they could escape. Thier metal weapons shall be fansioned into battle axes and spears. And with this exciting event my term as leader comes to an end.

End of Year Report

With hunting and farming our food supply is stable and even has a surplus at times.
The first step in setting up magma forges has commenced. A piston system is being dug out to transport a reseviour of magma to our fortress. It currently is only in the first stage set up to cave in a natural cavern before being dug out completely for the magma transport.
We have 11 soldiers: 4 axedwarves, 4 spears, and 3 marksdwarves. However the marksdwarves are the only ones that have metal weapons.
There hasn't been any armour or weapons crafted yet, though there are metal crafts that had been traded for that could be melted down and used.

All in all our fortress is off to a good start. But be warned because we are being noticed by the kobolds

For some reason even after I changed the population cap it sent me another batch of migrants.

Well here is the Save

They were probably 'dispatched' from the mountainhome before you fixed the population cap back to 50. Any migrants enroute will always arrive, regardless of pop cap :]

Save moved to OP, which makes it Dariush turn.

I am glad you managed to keep it all together.

Aw, I'm a bit busy at the moment. It would be great if I could be pushed, let's say, three turns down the list.

To summarize:
They do an epic face. If that fails, they beat said object to death with their beard.

Spring

1st Granite

Wise Alaric has retired from leadership, and gone back to his stonecrafting roots. I am to be the overseer for the next year.

I'm a simple man dwarf and I like what I like and hate what I hate. I like honey and I hate anything trying to steal honey. Born from this comes my project for the year: a thriving beekeeping industry!

I've noticed this rather interesting plateau above our forts entrance and I can see some potential...

So to work!! I've designated for the slopes up to this flatland to be destroyed so the only entrance is within the fortress...

I've ordered 6 of Alaric's finest hives from his shop. Shouldn't take too long.

I've also noticed something slightly worrying...

That'll need sorting too. Maybe a raising bridge as a stopgap while I'm busy with the hives...

4th Granite

I noticed a lot of cats and kittens running around...

They'll be keeping the dwarfs well fed for a few months ^_^

7th Granite

Ohhh...

Looks like he's claimed a craftdwarves workshop...

12th Granite

A mysterious construction has begun...

and

The plataeu is sealed off apart from stairs within our entrance hall!

Time to begin construction...

16th Granite

Stodir Dastotthimshur has given birth to a boy!

Aww!

In other news:

An order for bone bolts has been completed. Not quite knowing when this was put down, I'll just add another to keep things going consistently...

and

Wow a claystone Scepter! Worth 120,000
Good times?

23rd Granite

After much searching I have found a single colony of bees!

We must keep them safe otherwise all my plans will come to nothing...

15th Slate

Not much going on.

Noticed that the refuse pile is...

So I'm going to make sure the path to it can be secured against airborne invaders...

18th Slate

WHERE'D THAT COME FROM!?

From what I can tell, it's some kind of hungry... head!?

Attack order given.

Hungry Head down :D

With only minor damage to a goat I might add!

2nd Felsite

There was apparently an altercation with a giant toad...

But it all resolved itself without me realising.

11th Felsite

Put finished coffers in some of the dwarves rooms.

Nice to keep things neat.

Things are very quiet at the moment...

My construction continues on scedule :D

19th Felsite

The elves have arrived!

I'm looking forward to see if they've brought anything worthwhile...

In other news:

The butchers shop was CLT because dwarves were refusing to organise the refuse within. I've taken the libery to creating a little butcher room to fix this.

Also

Someone's dog has died from an unknown cause and is polluting the main hall. I'm building a temporary refuse pile on the plateau.

28th Felsite

Rakust Kadolerar, after creating several bone masterpieces, has given birth to a boy!

Last Day of Spring

Traded with the elves!
Brought a little cloth, all of their fruit, what wood and booze they had and sent them packing

Oh I forgot

I also bought a RHINO

:D

To be continued ;)

You seem to have heavily skimped on cavern defenses though Alaric. Things are wandering in from below.
