For the pop cap...when I started there were more than a hundred dwarves in the fort so I assumed that the cap had been abandoned or something.  Should I utilized magma to bring the populace to an acceptable number?

Sorry guys, I've been sick and haven't really been motivated to get on DF because of it.  :( I'll try to finish up summer and probably pass on my turn there.  I feel so tired.

It's too bad we can't add in something ridiculous like the creatures from Syrupleaf.  Because THEN we'd be hard-pressed to survive.  Where are the goblin invasions, anyways?

There was one in my turn and it was captured and blended by serated disc traps.

And in my paranoia, I installed so many traps that it's gonna have to be a two- or three-squad invasion that'll get past it...  Then of course there're the cages and weapons traps at the original walled entrance, and then a bridge of traps, and then a small line of last-defence traps.

Kobolds are trap avoid... None of that will help.

So here are some things I noticed needed work around here:
-Clearing out magma into the holding room.
-Making a jail for prisoners so the guard doesn't beat all of their heads in.
-We have LOTS of candy that we are not using and is being slowly taken up by people making artifact toy hammers and such.  WEAPONS GO.

I ordered twenty candy spears to be made so our entire army will be extremely well equipped.  We will still have 66 out of 86 wafers left and many more to be mined, so it's not much of a dent.  I then ordered the creation of some glass components to be part of the magma screw pump to prevent melting.  Finally I designated a prison area near the arena and an office for the fortress guard.  I told the metalsmiths to make ten copper chains and the masons to make some chairs and tables and the carpenters to make some beds.

Most of the next two months consisted of digging and smelting and constructing.

18 Malachite
The army received all of it's new spears today, the soldiers seemed to love them.  We will tear apart any opposition!

28 Malachite
The prison is done and furnished.  I designated for a single engraving to be made in each cell for the prisoner to reflect upon.  This engraver drew my mom admiring a sock.

Those people in there aren't prisoners, they're just the lazy builders who'd rather sleep in prison than walk ALL THE WAY UP TO THEIR ROOMS.

15 Galena
An ambush!  Curse them!

The traps at the entrance quickly tear most of them to shreds.  MOST.

I thought we were in trouble, but then they decided to turn around and run right back out, once again getting torn to ribbons.  Nobody died.  The army didn't even get to use their new spears.

19 Galena
The screw pump is ready to be pumped, after many screwups (HA!) in the direction and position it was facing.

Not that much happened.  Somebody else can take over now, it's been a week IRL and I still feel so tired.  Here's the save.
