Basically the dwarf grabs a clear diamond, then runs off to the practice workshop to contemplate the diamond. It is consumed but an identical diamond is created in the process, so the end result is diamonds are neither created nor destroyed, just temporarily used.

I think a better approach would be to make a new type of stone that evaporates at room temperature but the gem thing works fine, perhaps having some sort of magical component involved. Magic gems? Maybe ice might be better though. Can you make ice chunks in a reaction?

When the ACTING  skill is implemented, you should use tiger blood as the reagent in the training reaction for it :D

EDIT: Nevermind, there's not an unimplemented acting skill in the string dump. I was thinking of the speaking skill. My bad. The joke remains funny though.

It wouldn't work, anyway - that trains the Warlock skill.

Right, after reading about that change...  I modded an eat/spit-out into my practice shop...

And after drilling up a new miner to replace one I accidentally crushed...  well, I ended up with over 90 pages of steel in a purple cluttered practice workshop...

edit: Almost forgot: On a different occasion, a lump of copper ore was hauled in...

edit2:  Truly odd: 12 pages (@13~ page, probably 150 bars...) of steel from one attempt, miner jumped from Rank 13/15,490xp to Rank 15/19,990xp...

Technically it's a product, but it will never be created. Your reagent could be a pick or something.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
