EDITED on 7/7/11

WCDF 2011 Meetup is July 16!  See below for detailed schedule!

July 15 we are encouraging people to go camping at either Whiskeytown Lake or Lake Shasta, both about half an hour from Redding.

We really hope people can come!  Let us know soon so we can plan appropriately.

Tarn is going to be there!  For those of you who want to meet him, this is your opportunity!

!!!PLANS!!!

July 16

9:00 Tour of Lake Shasta Caverns (Non-mandatory, but ToadyOne, ThreeToe, Capntastic and Rainseeker will be there.)  2 hour tour costs $22, but is really cool.  Be there on time or you'll get left behind!
Location Website:  http://lakeshastacaverns.com/

EDIT:  Be sure to buy a ticket for the 9:30 tour!

12:30 Meet at Marie Callender's, have lunch, listen to Tarn, kibitz afterwards until about 4:30 when we get kicked out.
Location Website:  Marie Callender's

Cost for everyone is $15, which includes buffet lunch and modest tip.

Huh. Well I don't normally do these meetup things but this is close enough that I suppose I may as well swing by.
If the park you're thinking of is the one I'm thinking of, then it's a nice enough place to hang out. Overgrown enough that it's almost wild, but not quite. Pretty big. Only issue I can think of is that the restrooms are, as far as I know, not intended to be used and always locked. There's plenty of secluded trees, though, so for a bunch of gentlemen of dorfy persuasion it's entirely probable that no problem will arise.
Shasta caverns (I'm assuming that's the caves you mean, there's no others of significance particularly near Redding as far as I'm aware) are nice enough for folks who haven't seen northwestern caves before. But at a meetup in the northwest, I don't reckon there's too many people to whom that applies. It's not as impressive as some of the other caves around.
I don't know where you're thinking of camping, so I can't comment on that.

I agree with this sentiment, someone needs to be streaming this! I'm all the way on the east coast but would have gone otherwise.

I'd certainly go if I had the time and money. Lacking either, I can only echo the sentiment of the above posters. Stream that.

It IS the middle of the country. 1095km to Tijuana, 1149km to Surrey BC.

I know, I know, you meant middle as in east-west, not north-south.

To be substantive for a moment, I am northern Californian and somewhat interested. (Three hour drive one-way, or you'd have to pick me up at the train station at 3:14AM, and drop me off the next day at 2:21AM.)

I tried to attend, but I seem to be unable to fast-travel across the country no matter how many times I push "T"

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then youkill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.
Dwarf Fortress: So horrifying the players would rather talk about nice things, like Warhammer 40k.

Redding?  The meetup is going to be in Redding, of all places?

If only I had a car, a driver's license, and the spare time to visit.  (Redding, seriously?  The only reason I know that town is because my mother went to High School there.)
