I think because you had no one to treat you got rusty and it reverted?  I never set a custom title.

Edit: in other news, if you mix dwarven rum with mint and lime, can you make a dwarven mojito?
Ah fuck, anyways no that is a dwarven mintjulep.

                                                 Disection Report(from the grave)

After Finishing the digestive tract I moved on to the more complicated porsedure of examining the brain,

something I was looking forwards to(not really)I, had perviouslly obtained knife from the butcher knife from

the well, butcher's shop. I was now going to need something more... perceice. I then relized that I had seen a

knife from gem cutters setup that we had brought when we would need to cut gems, and ran off to find it. After

4 hours of looking, I found it and went back to the Disection, for that was what I was calling it, for science

sake. I slowly cut away at the skull, noteing the lage size, again, in comparison to a normal dwarf. After an

hour of cutting opening the skull I removed the brain, not an easy task, but I finally did it, after another 3

hours cutting the spine, and a scare, the body twitched, odd.

My first reaction was one of utter astonishment. This things brain was a masterwork. The thing was easily

twice the size of others I had examined, few that I had, at the moutainhomes. I noted the expanded frontal

lobe and cerebral cortex, also the addition of a new lobe, connected to the frontal lobe. I can only fathom

what the expantion of cerebral cortex, but the new lobe, that I can alteast say one thing.

Now what I am about to write may be seen as nothing more but old supersition, but from the body I'v got

before me, it may be more then mere folklore. In the time before recorded time, there were the first of each

main species in our world to day. The humans, The Elves, and the Dwarves. To the humans the Gods granted

deminon over the land and to build over it and into the heavens. To the Elves, dominion over nature itself, to

be its protectors. And to the Dwarves, the very heart of the planet, to mold the inner working of the very

heart of the world to there will, but to never dig to deep, for there were a forth group that were there at

the creation of the planet.

There were a forth, not created by the gods, but born of nothingness, the absolute darkness, the demons.
The Gods, in a moment of glory(not the only one), Covered the demons hellish world, mad of the vile slade, in

a liveing rock, semi-molten rock. The God soon realized tohugh that it was not enough, and gapeng holes were found in the living rock, allowing the vile creatures to escape, so the gods created the most holy metal, Adamantine. And all was good for a time.

A young dwarf by the name of Led Luredknives has apparently appointed herself expedition leader.  None of us are sure who the hell she is, and where she came from, but we could care less.

30 barrels of booze!

Er... 20.  That was quick.

Wait.. wait.. what?  Everyone's being interrupted by a....

What's a Foul Blendec?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
HOOOAAHHHHaaaahHHHHH!!!!!

I had been skeptical about Litast's claims of demonic forces at work here but... that thing... Maybe the old nutter was on to something after all.

Whatever it is, the dogs seem to be capable of handling it.  For that I am grateful - but we will need to be on the lookout for more of these.  Does anyone know how to... you know... use a weapon?  Anyone?

Journal of Ducim Helmeddawn, Broker
5th Granite, 552

Poor mad Bembul was the last of the original party to go.  She wandered off in the wilderness babbling alternately about going to her "masters" and praying to Iton to save her.  She was apparently headed right for the Blendec.  Poor thing, I think she fought the demons until the very end.

I'm still not convinced these things are real - It seems that any dwarves who would come to this place would have to have a few in their head to begin with.  But then... there's that beekeeper.  Ducim.  It makes me shudder to think we share a name.  His spirit haunts these halls, and has leered at me with intent, more than once.  His body lies in the open fields, rotting... and... grinning. It is horrible.  I have just encountered the spirit outside... I will ask for it to be buried as soon as possible.

But even as I return to ask this...  The Blendecs have come!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh no.  Oh no oh no no noooo.....  These are surely the demons Zasit spoke of, or at least their minions.  They have come for us.

TO ARMS!!!

Nice. Within the first year you lose someone to drowning caused by elephants. I predict epicness in the near (enough) future.
It seems my prediction has come true. By the way who all is left?

The brave (desperate?) dwarves rushed valiantly, unarmed, into battle with the strange goat-headed beasts.  Fortunately for the survivors of the Massive Boat, the creatures first went after poor mad Adil, the fey weaver seeking a surface.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The new Miner, Reg Boltsbears proved a hero of the day, as she put one down with a single swift blow.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Sodel "Lovelyflag" the de facto commander of our ad hoc militia, used the combat as an opportunity to vent his frustrations. Another one was laid out.  I guess I thought this a good idea, as I chased down another myself, and...  I don't know what came over me.  I don't know.... how could I have had such rage inside?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I tore it with my bare hands!!  Oh to think...

Led herself chased down the last of them.  I caught up and we soon finished it off, while our new militia commander useless fired the last of our bolts into a tree nearby.  ((Dear god, never bring marksdwarves to a forested area.. Kadol did the same thing early on and wasted our ENTIRE stock of arrows))

We're... we're fine.  Well... perhaps I was mistaken.  Those -couldn't- have been demons.  Just... maybe... other victims of their foul magics?  I shall not rest easy, just yet.

No one you'll recognize - these are all the refugees, at this point... and one 'demonic' fey migrant who somehow survived the cave-in execution and is now standing around in the open waiting for god knows what.

Headcount:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There are also a bunch of jaguars we apparently seized from the elves.

I guess now is the time for re-dorfing?  Who wants whom?

Edit: Also, I have no f***ing idea why the miner is harvesting plants.  They aren't listening to me very well at this point.

Edit 2: I was mistaken!  There is ONE named character from the original embark - Meng, Kadol's hunting dog.  Litast's dog was the first and apparently only casualty of the Blendec attack - to it's credit it severely wounded the thing before going down.

Id like the broker!(Story tie in!)

I was dead, I died of thirst I remebered it clearly. It was all darkness, peaceful, quiet, then there was a light, I went to it, then there were two, then i woke up and I was back. I'm not sure how but I'm back. The gods have given a a second chance, and I shall not waist it!

Oof... err..

Well, you can have the Weaver if you want, ArK but... he just went stark raving mad.  Talk about a short term character.

As for the Broker, I'd rather not Dorf him to anyone else since I am already writing from his perspective.

On the plus side, we actually seem to have enough booze and food to survive... If they don't all go mad soon.  EVERYBODY's mood is rock bottom at this point.

Done: Herocks "Bridgesneaks" the Armorer.

I just noticed that the other dwarves seem to respect the original 7.  The impromptu row of wood caskets I have just been sticking into a hallway in a row were filled immediately with that bunch, even with Ducim the Demonic Beekeeper haunting the fortress and annoying everyone.  Adil, Litast, Kadol, Sakzul, Solon, Zasit, Bembul, and Haika are all buried there. Once I can finally persuade my miners to start digging again (they seem to be ignoring the designation and doing nothing) I will have to dedicate a grand tomb to them all.

I cannot believe migrants are still coming to this place.

We just got a handful:

Ducim Shockgold - a Mason and stonecrafter
Onul Baldedcopper - an Armor/Weapon/Metalsmith
Thikut Minefancy - Miner and High Master Armorer
Sibrek Heatedclasped - a Brewer and Grower
Thob Grizzlyglaze - Engraver and Mason

What is with the proliferation of masons and metalsmiths?  The game has some cruel sense of humor about my inability to reach the stone, I think.

Journal of Ducim Helmeddawn, Broker
11th Galena, 552

The great Plug is finally complete... but at terrible cost.  Due to the lax safety practices of the previous administrators, nearly every miner who has ever worked on this project has lost their life.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Farewell to Thikut and Reg... we barely knew ye.  ((Seriously, I TRY to kill some migrants with one of these, they all survive without a scratch - every miner I assign to do this, even safely, dies instantly. Even from the safe non falling side!  Two of em just sorta jumped off after it fell.  There's no justice I tells ya))

((Also, ArkFallen, I don't know when you rose as a ghost, but you've now been put to rest.  I think those dwarves who get that much are going to be the lucky ones in this fort :P))

Now... the part of this no one wants to talk about is the BUSINESS cost.  I hate to say it... but... nearly HALF A DOZEN of our precious picks are now submerged in water as a result!  Sure, sure... whats a hunk of metal, to a dwarf's life, you ask?  Well, I'll tell you what - I'm not sure we can even continue to DIG now.  That's right. I'm not sure we have any metal left.  Someone's taking an inventory right now...  Oh the torture.  To be a few pick-strikes away from precious, precious stone...

Oh no... oh no oh no.... We have brass, but no copper or bronze left.  My smiths tell me they cannot make a pick of brass, for some unfathomable reason.  This does not bode well...

Edit: Praise Inod!  We have located a discarded Bronze Crossbow!  I have ordered it smelted and reforged into a pick post haste!
