Danheim - Bersekir

They've been popping up in my YT reccomendations for a while now, decided to give them a try the other day, turns out YT was spot on and that dark ambiental folk with heavy nordic influences is right up my goddamn alley.

*crosspost
I just discovered a term to describe my taste in music that is at once both terrifically accurate and hopelessly vacuous, and so simple I'm an idiot for not thinking of it:

"Alternative electronic"
Hell yeah!  I feel like that describes my favorite (I enjoy many types of music.  Not all, but pretty eclectic).  Probably because my parents were eclectic.  But my personal choices, not including my teenage angst music (which I still love)...  mostly frenetic electronica and chiptunes.

Not my dad's trance techno, or my mom's bluegrass or world music.  Though I do still listen to them.  I post a lot of folk and filk here, heh.

If I had to pick one favorite band that was wholly mine, it'd be Ratatat (Loud Pipes is good, but overplayed compared to this).
They're one of the bands I heard on college radio while driving, and remembered enough to look them up 1-2 hours later when I got to a computer.  I cared enough.

Bands my dad lost interest in, but I consider favorites:  Atom and his Package, and Apoptygma Berzerk.

Apoptygma Berzerk is an amazing case of being dark, yet often Christian themed, and with an unbreakable hope faith.
And yet with transhuman/artificial life themes throughout.
What is life?  Why is sin?  What is forgiveness?
If we hold on, there are answers, is the message.  Or is that Message?
It still appeals to me as pagan scum, even more than Gregorian chanting (;

Thank you for that, it's very soothing.  Might count as vaporwave, but I don't know about that, and music genres are a mess of fascinating opinions.

It's 3AM, the electronic city fairies are flitting about and I'm so tired.

...can I interest you in some Circle of Dust?
I'm so interested that I haven't looked yet, stuff going on.  Just thought about it a little each day, like Undertale or various other things I don't want to skim over.
I'm impressed, yeah this right up the same alley.  I love voice samples in electronica (or metal, I guess?) and, obviously, themes about the nature of humanity with technology.

I'm watch-latering (verbing the noun) more of their work, thank you.

Circle is fairly classically industrial metal, as far as genres go. The project has a slightly convoluted history, but I think you'll enjoy Machines of Our Disgrace.

Was probably just what happened to be on the radio, or might have been a CD.  Either way.

Yeah it's pretty well done! That footage of him splashing about in a forest is probably what makes it. :))

Some of their other music videos are gold, too, especially the Elaine and Elon Musk ones.
