Oh fuck yes, I only recently discovered the wonder of dungeon synth (and it's numerous permutations) and I've been loving the vibe ever since.

Old dungeon synth has a striking resemblance to video game music from the 80s/90s. I'm pretty sure that's one of the main reasons I've been liking it. (Edit. Wouldn't be surprised if some 90s albums have been made with Fast Tracker or Impulse Tracker. The sound is very similar to tracker stuff.)

I usually don't like more "modern" albums (mainly because of higher production values/better sound quality), but there's always exceptions to the rule.

While I generally love extremely moody pieces and in most cases the production value does add a ton to certain moods (for example early Zeal&Ardor is so much chunkier and grittier and better at conjuring up a whole world of stories related to the songs than the recent much better produced albums are), I generally haven't found that to be the case with most dungeon synth I've listened to so far, mostly going for whatever sounds good at the time.

In that vein Windtowers' Eldest One is pretty damn sweet, as is the rather darker sounding Tales of the Mad Moon by Old Tower

And for something completely different Meet me in the woods by Lord Huron is hella weird. It's like, upbeat cosmic horror? A Gravity Falls take on Lovecraft? I can't quite place what is it about it that's making me love it, but the mix of the fairly dark theme of going mad because of things you shouldn't have messed with and the bright country pop is really working for me for some reason.

Ooh, I like it!  Pleasant smooth bardcore that isn't by Hildegard Von Blingin this time (though she's fantastic).  "The Rhythm of the Knight" is a good top comment too

Sounds like the sort of song that you'd hear in a darker-than-usual Rankin/Bass special from the '70s. I kind of like it.

Yo but my dad (65 or so) doesn't remember Prodigy.  Which is weird since he was way into Trance mixes, Doboy and Tiesto primarily.
15 years ago I shared Prodigy- Smack My Bitch Up with him and he just found it disrespectful.  probably due to anti-islamic sentiment at the time

But last week I shared Prodigy Vs Enya with him and he didn't recognize the Prodigy!  He's so smart about rock and trance and, I thought, electronica in all!
I sober-danced to that shit, because Mm-Mmh!  I can't stay still with that fusion!

After listening in return (to REAL good rock stuff, but ironically too modern for me! (Sofi Tukker and some other things)) I shared
Prodigy - Firestarter and he didn't remember that either!

TBH the song in my head at the time, all week and even now, was Bat Out Of Hell
Because gods I love my SO and if I gotta be damned, you know I wanna be damned- dancing through night with them.
And like a sinner before the gates of heaven, I'll be crawling on back to them.
<3

But seriously, the Prodigy??  I don't even know what to recommend!  They did so much electronic punk, but I keep thinking about this, my favorite music video they did.  I think he'd appreciate it especially.  BUT IT'S SO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THEY (appear) TO MAKE!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcxnbfRYM-g
it's basically Rez (Playstation 2)~

Edit:  It was super cool hearing my favorite music on an actual soundsystem though omg.  He's such an audiophile nerd.  Though that first track I shared, Enya vs Prodigy, was horribly balanced??  Could barely hear the Prodigy.  Everything else worked great!
