Bulb - Breeze (+Paramore)

For some reason I remembered this being amazing all those years ago, still is, tho I'm not sure what the hell is going on with the instrumental version (ie the original song) since all there is on YT a bunch of covers and a single version which is unavailable for whatever reason :I

Floppy disk music is something an old friend of mine used to share a lot.  It's worth a listen, it's lovely how the unfortunate grinding of mechanisms can make such reliable tones!

Today I discovered the wonders of the jaw-harp ensemble.

Such invigorating rhythms! Such uncanny harmonics!

Catherine Feeny - Mr. Blue.
I may be biased because of the media I heard this as a soundtrack to, but aaaaaaaaahh it's so good and sweet and sad.

I literally dusted off my PS2 while cleaning and dug up my Amplitude disc.  The memory card has failed, but I was still able to enjoy the Reverse Awoo:
Chris Child - Shades of Blue

Also if you feel like seeing someone (not me, by a LONG shot) be very good at a rhythm game, here is an amazing run that might actually be optimal.  The player was creative with the freestyle-powerup sections but they're still disruptive.

...Sorta want to try emulating Amplitude now, to see how I do with keys rather than shoulder buttons.  Particularly since my memory card and the disc of the first game, Frequency, have fallen to the ravages of time.

(The concept of the games is that you "play" a song one instrument at a time, with that instrument playing itself for a while if you do it right.  So each track builds up as you add instruments, and instruments go silent as you mess up.  It's even a delightful co-op experience)

I don't always listen to The Waifs, but when I do I probably listen to this song.

Seriously though, I heard a tiny bit of a song in the dream I just had, right as I woke up, and I was wracking my brains to work out where I'd heard it before since it sounded really familiar. Amazingly enough, I actually did figure it out - I'm pretty sure it borrowed the tune from (at least part of) this song.
Hadn't personally listened to it for quite some time, but it's actually a rather lovely song by Waifs standards. Especially in the studio version I linked in this post, as opposed to the live version I always heard as a kid with far less delicate musicianship and far more drunken hullabaloo from the audience, haha.

Also of interest is the fact that I believe my maternal grandmother's experiences were quite similar to the ones described in the song, though I don't think she was part of the titular "bridal train".

100 gecs - hand crushed by a mallet (Remix) [feat. Fall Out Boy, Craig Owens, Nicole Dollanganger]

It's one of those songs that's really out there and you're struggling to figure out if you like it or not, or what you like about it even, so you keep listening to figure it out then you realize you pretty much do love it because it's such a loud and hot mess and there's nothing quite like it.

So I gave this another listen (I've heard it before),
and that got me poking through some of Corb Lund's other songs--
--until I stumbled on Bible on the Dash, which I hadn't heard before--
--and that got me laughing like a maniac.

I thank you. :))
