Question about Dwarves Ethics.
« on: April 18, 2011, 08:51:02 am »

I was thinking that i'm sick of not being able to take goblin heads in adventure mode, and not being able to make elf bone bolts in fortress mode.

So, I was going to tamper with the thoughts of the entire dwarven race to make it seem okay.

I'm making it acceptable to eat intellegint beings.

And make trophies out of them.

Will that allow me to make elf bolts and goblin leather mittens?

EDIT: Also, will other nations go to war with dwarves simply for these changes?

1. Yes you will be able to do that to other intelligent creatures but you can never use Dwarves as material (hardcoded)
2. No, I think you will have a higher chance to have peace with goblins and elves because your ethics are more or less the same. humans might not like your preferences though

A quick rundown:

Most of the ethics didn't list don't matter in Fortress or Adventurer mode.  If your ethics are vastly different from another race, tho, that will create wars.

For example, I usually make the Civs that CAN lie have:

[ETHIC:LYING:MISGUIDED] rather than UNTHINKABLE.  That way they don't get into too many fights over "truthfullness"

I'm personally wondering why you're talking to kobolds at all. I usually just let the groundhog bone bolts do the talking.

Oh, so just because he's a Kobold he's automatically going to steal your stuff?...

I suppose that you think that dwarves are all stupid, too.

The Kobold would just bark out some nonesence before your militia or guard dogs killed it.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I sense speciesism and prejudice against kobolds.
