Well, we're pretty far from the java port being done, and the first few releases of it are probably going to be bugfixing, so I doubt South Tyris will see any love for a good while.

Oh, I don't mind. It still shows progress see, and that's good enough.

I wonder if I could take a hobo in a fight. I need gold...

Yet.

I've managed to luck out wuth the casino, I've two potiond. I think I'll drpo them back at home for safekeeping.#

My character carries a huge amount of fire/cold blankets to train weight lifting. As a side effect my potions and scrolls are safe even facing a roomful of fire/cold hounds.

Does anyone know about the details of the Fill Charge active skill (you get it by having enough Magic Device)? From my experience it seems to work much better if the item recharged is blessed and you have a lot of stamina left. I seem to get more charges as a result and the item is far less likely to explode.

Also blessed blankets are awesome. They just keep going even with 0 charges, so there is no need to recharge them and risk getting an explosion.

What class would be best for a beginner/newbie warrior? Even though I've played the game for a long time, I still suck.

If this is your first time, I highly recommend a Golem Warrior. Plenty of strength/constitution, weight lifting, high HP, and poison/dim resistance. You'll run into problems as you progress far enough though, due to their low speed and slow skill growth.

Heh, my class choices are all 100% awful. But they're so cool...

And by safekeeping I mean in case of death. I'm guessing I'll die a lot.

GUYS I GOT A WISH
WHAT DO I WISH FOR
I'm thinking a castle, a cloak of Vindale, or 7-league boots. Or maybe a kitty bank because I can never find those anywhere.

In other news, how do you steal stuff off the ground?

always get the boots first. they allow you to do "before it's too late" quests much more efficiently. Also be sure to ride your little girl for a speed boost.

Also, what are ores (like rubynus, mika, etc) for? Can you make stuff with them?

you can sell them yourself  - which is bad - or give them to your pets. in town they then randomly sell them to the merchant. they visit trainers with the money and increase their skills. or you can serenade them and take all their money .... if you are a performer with decent stats.

Keep a few of those ores for yourself; you can often find them as the object for "I want" and "Birthday" quests. They are easy money!

If you want more ores, you can learn the Mining skill. Then mine the walls in town, or the blocks in "Hunting"/"Panic" quests. Besides the stat potential, you'd sometimes find some loose change or ores.

Hey, this version has a new place down south. Methinks it's interesting and could be expanded upon well.

Now to get the patch to work so's I can see the casino screen!

Which version do you mean? Seems like there's a million different versions of Elona, and you never know which version someone is talking about.

I really wish there was an Elona website that had downloads for all the versions and was updated. The Elona Wiki has changelogs for some of the versions, but no download links.
http://homepage3.nifty.com/rfish/index_e.html
This site has all the available versions, and considering Noa dropped the project, you're not going to get any updates from it.

The version in question is the latest beta, which has South Tyris, but it's all out of depth monsters and there's no actual stuff.

I should've been more specific. I meant keeping track of the millions of fan patches, mods, and unofficial versions. The japanese Elona modding scene is very active and I've played a couple of very different fan patches. Depending on the forum you're on, "latest version" could mean 1.16stable, Christmas, 1.22beta, 1.22 fanpatched, 1.16 monster mod, 1.22 South Tyris Expansion, or a number of other things.

The big problem with navigating Japenese Elona sites, and the eng Elona forums is that it's sometimes hard to find mods and patches that you ran across a year or two back. I've been looking everywhere for the Japanese fanpatch that added a ton of stuff to the empty South Tyris, which is why I asked what the version in question was.
