Bad bitmap generation
« on: December 25, 2006, 09:41:00 pm »

Lately I switched over to a different computer for my DF machine and I've found that, since the switch and the upgrade to the latest version, my bitmaps of my fortresses are being saved with huge vertical chunks of the fortress missing. It's almost like it skips one or two of the subdivisions of the world for every one or two it bitmaps out.

Here's an example:

I think this might be from the frames per second counter, if this isn't a version with that bug fixed.

This is with the latest version as far as I know.

I have the same problem, also when exporting the world map.

This is on df_22_121_23b - I didn't try with the latest upgrade yet.

Edit: Just tested the new version - the exportetd map is still garbled.

I've had the problem since several updates before the FPS counter, for the record.

Oops, no. Not the same issue. In mine there are black spaces instead of just squeezing the gaps together.

I am on 22_121_23a and having the opposite problem, the bmp is fine along the X, but the Y is cropped badly in large chunks.  Not black stripes, just cropped out.

It's doing both horizontal and vertical chunks.  Look at where things like the chasm and magma river edge up.

What's the status of the init file on these?  Is this with the default settings?

Nope, I use modified settings. I use the following changes...

code:

[WINDOWEDX:1280]
[WINDOWEDY:400]
[FONT:curses_640x300.bmp]

[FPS:YES]

[ENGRAVINGS_START_OBSCURED:YES]

[DISPLAY_LENGTH:8]

I think that's the only alterations to mine. I could try doing it with a default init if you think that might change things - I kept the save.

Default init settings seem to work fine.

Okay, I'll test it out at these settings.
