ONly thing to be aware of with DFLang is you have to make sure the roots are very short, otherwise the resulting words will be absurdly long and unwieldy.

For Olde English, very little exists which I can leverage to get a file working quickly, I'm tackling Hebrew, Chinese and Arabic transliteration right now, as they will all work from the same site, so I can write a common set of scripts to do all these in a run (proving annoying because they limit the input/output characters more than google). In the OP I've linked resources related to this, and what I've found on Old English too.

For ye olden Englishe, just slap on E's to everything. It's not quite REAL Old English, but it looks enough like it.
no it really doesn't

Theye probleyme weth Olde Anglish, an Medle Anglish, is thayt pepol just dydn't knowe howe tew spel!

Seriously, look it up.  Even prolific writers of the time just spelled things however they damn well pleased, often spelling something two different ways in the same manuscript.

Sounds like a vowel-scrambler, plus ending 'e's could just do the trick.

Well there were some words, that, anon, aren't to be found in the english more modern.  Words and phrases, changed, o so many years ago, and lo! Entire pronouns that we weren't to see the like of again, for many a fortnight, or score, or even aeon.

So I say unto thee, that the English of old was not merely misspelled.  Rather, it was a mix of grammar and spelling most strange.

just remember that there's only spelling in DF, we have no control over grammar.

A side note: some of Toady's keys had spaces in them rather than underscores, which caused faulty translations of those. I'm putting a script together to filter the files, and "untranslate" these. Also looking at a great synonym generator which i linked in the OP.

Arabic.
Hierogliphics may be too hard to do... though hypothetically, there are a few unused character tiles...

Ok update - files are now uploaded to DFFD, see the OP. This includes an easier to use version of the script i put together, and instructions. Needs VBS, but expands to the 15 language files and takes 106kb of download.

Requesting Brazilian Portuguese. Quoting Wikipedia:

Some authors compare the differences between Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese to those found between British and American English, while others see the differences between Brazilian and European Portuguese as greater or much greater.

I've been able to do regular portugese, don't know about Brazilian (maybe you can tweak the portugese). Working on "completed" language files right now. Have finished 3, and have native french speaking flatmate helping with ultra-accurate French file :), though this is a little slowgoing, it will be the definitive "French" file.

@Deon: I knew about the Finnish one, hadn't known about your completed Latin and Japanese files, definitely would be interested to compare with what i've got. The current D/L is out of date, i totally redid the Japanese one this morning (hooray for scripting).

Yeah here is the link for the Finnish file I made: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2921
Finnish has the vowels ä & ö (bat, term) but one can search&replace them with a & o for DF use.
