Well you see It's based off of these Japanese dolls called Daruma Dolls but with a dash of Monkey thrown in.

And apparently people use their droppings to keep themselves warm. Who comes up with this shit?

It's not that weird remember they said that people only use to. Compare it to some of the stuff that early people use to do and then imagine if you were an early human living in a desert that becomes really cold at night and found some substance lying around that gave off heat.

Where did you find this, I don't remember any pokedex entry  involving feces.
Also, you answered your own question

It takes place in the USA.

People trying to get things as simple as entertainment from... well... that... is common.

watching. also wishing the self-declared master of all things pokemon would stop spoiling the fun with his annoying ass-fact correcting and comparing the plots of pokemon game to shakespeare or worse--his favorite episodes of friends.

Uh, are you referring to me? If so I apologize for sounding pretentious/conceited. I feel somewhat bothered by the attitudes people take torward new games of the series and feel urged to defend against perceived insults to them. I did not intend to upset anyone. If I've been bothering you guys and sounding arrogant then I greatly apologize since behaving that way would make me extremely hypocritical to my beliefs in regards to etiquette when discussing franchises. Though I don't really get where you got that bit about Shakespeare and Friends. I don't even know what Friends is about.

I have been really enjoying the Lp though, despite my views about nostalgia.

 :D Update!

Personally I think that people warming themselves with faeces is one of the more creative and realistic pokemon entries. Remember folks, Magcargo is HOTTER THEN THE SUN!

not arrogant, just.. annoying. we don't need an alphabetized list of all the pokemon with their likes, dislikes, sexual preference, political and religious views, public approval rating and plans for the future... or a dissertation on the nuances of vintage pokemon games

Alright, enough of that in my thread. If you don't want to hear from the other followers, I post links to each part in the OP- you can read along there.

Re: other discussion- the fluff in this series is just crazy. A Spinarak is a spider that's over 1.5 feet tall. Ghastlys put you to sleep and then suffocate you by crawling into your lungs, and as if that wasn't bad enough they're also made of poisonous gas. Ponyta's hooves are ten times harder than DIAMOND, and according to Pokemon Stadium it can jump over the Eiffel Tower. Pikachu, of all creatures, zaps everything new it encounters with a jolt of electricity, and when they gather in groups they cause LIGHTNING STORMS.

A grimdark Pokemon game would be really easy to make, and if only half the fluff makes it in it would make for crazy party abilities.

How about Wailord density? It's under that of hydrogen, or if you are very generous and take the height given in the pokedex as its length, around the same as air, a a little over or a little under, depending of how you estimate its other dimensions.
