The Kroll Process: A Workshop Juggler's Nightmare
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:32:56 pm »

So I was thinking about adding added titanium into my game along with the kroll process of refining it. As of now, it requires a total of 6 separate workshops with additional ones as well to produce the bags and barrels needed. Periclase (for magnesium) and Rock Salt (for chlorine) are required, as well as large amounts of fuel. My rendition isn't quite accurate, and it is definitely confusing to do, but I thought it was maybe worth posting.

Thanks to SpamAway for the titanium material properties. I made my own but his are better, so I used his.

Order:

Smelt periclase ore @ Smelter
---Yields magnesium bars
Grind ilmenite or rutile to bag @ Grinder
---Yields ore powder
Make chlorine to barrel from rock salt @ Hydrolysis Chamber
---Yields rock salt to barrel
Purify ore powder with coal @ Smelter
---Yields "titanium powder"
Treat titanium powder with chlorine @ Titanium Reactor (Fluidized Bed Reactor sounded too complex)
---Yields raw titanium bars
Reduce raw titanium powder with magnesium bars @ Reducing Vat
---Yields spongy titanium and raw magnesium (50%)
Melt spongy titanium into bars @ Arc Furnace
---Yields titanium bars
OPTIONAL: Melt raw magnesium into bars @ Smelter
---Yields magnesium bars

Here's the raws:

Spoiler: add this to metals (click to show/hide)

Is that all? :D

I don't expect anyone to use it, but this took a while to make and test, so please credit if used.

I've always been kind've interested in how convoluted and cluttered a "realistic metalworking" mod would be and this is a first step.

Doubt if I'll be using it but interesting to see at any rate. :P
