What language are you coding in?

I'd happily offer my services but I am not an artist like Deon and my coding ability is rather limited.

Still... Maybe there's something I could do.

Hi everyone,

it's nice to see people doing things in the project.

A few days ago, I contacted Deon to make the graphics for the game. Unfortunatelly Deon it's busy these days but I will wait until he is free.
Burningpet, at the same time, spontaneously made some very nice graphics, I like it a lot. And for sure I will use in the next video (if Burningpet allows me to do it).

About the coding language I'm using Java + OpenGL. The13thRonin, I'll take into consideration your coding/artist services if at any stage of the project I need help. Thanks for your interest.

Again, sorry for my english and hope you can understand me.

Towns 0.16 has been released.

Changelog:
- Add: Soldiers
- Add: Barracks (each one allows to convert 5 civilians into soldiers)
- Add: More info in the upper bar (level/civilians/soldiers, day/month/year)
- Add: "Room style" dungeons
- Add: Goblin and Goblin leaders
- Change: Wheat farms can't be built underground
- Change: Builders wait until cells are free to finish the building (avoiding stoned citizens)
- Change: Number of messages in message panel was raised to 1024 (from 128)
- Fix: The hole tile in digged terrains isn't drawed if terrain has fluids

Notes
This version comes with 50 citizens.
Soldiers are frenzy citizens. They search and try to kill all discovered enemies.

Challenge
Build armor and weapons, equip some citizens and convert it to soldiers (you need barracks to do so).
Try to kill every enemy (spiders and goblins) in the whole map.

Hope you like it.

Uhmm, curious. It's just the "google docs" download page. I'm using Firefox and there isn't any problem.

Please, try it with any other browser and giveme some feedback. Thanks

Edit: Just typing opera "google docs" in Google and I see a lot of posts in several forums :P
Edit: It seems that in the following link people have a solution:

Yes !

Open the file towns.ini, and uncomment (deleting the semicolon) of these two lines:
;WINDOW_WIDTH  = 1280
;WINDOW_HEIGHT = 1024

So the lines looks like that:
WINDOW_WIDTH  = 1280
WINDOW_HEIGHT = 1024

I recommend you to NOT set width and height to the same resolution as your desktop. Because the border and title of the window, so, if your desktop resolution it's 1280x1024 i recommend you to put witdh to 1200 and height to 1000, or something like that.

Yep, got it going by setting it to 800x600 and removing the Fullscreen=true line.

Wow, 800x600 it's a really tiny resolution for Towns, you can play it but your main area will be a little small.

As I said before, if your desktop resolution it's 800x600 I recomend you to put 780x580 or so. There is a OpenGL problem with mouse coordinates if window it's greater than desktop.

The new features of the game are good, but the slower production rate of the wheat farms is killing me. When I start the game, I do nothing but chop down trees and build wheat farms and bakeries. By the time I had 25 wheat farms (!!!I chopped so many trees to build them!) half of my citizens had starved! (some where on the other side of the river, but still, many died on my side).

It's not fun fighting goblins if starvation is your worst enemy :(

You are right! It's really hard to evade starvation. While you wait for Towns 0.17, where I will fix it (again), you can "cheat" editing the file items.xml.
You can remove one of the bread prerequisites (now 1 bread costs 2 wheat) or just remove all the prerequisites at all (so, the bakery will produce Bread continuously).

Thanks for the feedback.

Nice logo! Good work.

Towns 0.18 will come with a main menu and, maybe, a splash screen, so a logo may be inserted there.
