Broken spine?
« on: June 21, 2011, 10:00:04 pm »

One of my military dwarfs upper and lower spine are broken. Will it heal? Will they need crutches? Do I need to give them a warm !!bath!!? Most importantly, can they fight?

Exerpt from townbrush.txt by Internet Kraken:

"Nobody wants to live in Townbrush, and for good reason. Almost everyone that has come to Townbrush has been eaten, stabbed, crushed, drowned, hacked, incinerated, or beaten to death with an octopre skin backpack. When we're not under siege, we're being attacked by Forgotten Beasts. And when we're not being attacked by Forgotten Beasts, there's probably a zombie whale crushing someone to death in the dining room."

Probably not. I'm pretty certain that's permanent.

On an unrelated note:

You call that breaking my spine?! You Forgotten Beast ladies wouldn't know how to break a spine if-

I've had a couple dwarves heal (I think...) from a broken lower spine.

They could have just been great crutch walkers and moved onto using their -Iron Boots- as maces, or it could be that a broken spine doesn't always mean that the motor nerve gets damaged, and they got lucky.

My blood! He punched out *all* my blood!
This sounds like something that should be in combat logs...

Urist McSoldier is struck in the upper body by the Forgotten Beast, bruising the upper spine!
Urist McSoldier is unimpressed.
Urist McSoldier takes it upon himself to show the Forgotten Beast how it's done.
Urist McSoldiers is struck in the lower body by Urist McSoldier, shattering the lower spine!
The Forgotten Beast looks surprised by the ferocity of the onslaught!
