What is RUNNING WITH RIFLES? (taken from the 'about' section)
RUNNING WITH RIFLES is a top-down sandbox shooter for PC/Windows, with emphasis on cooperation, squad leading and being a tiny soldier in a big war. The events take place on an open world battlefield divided between two factions, each trying to capture bases from the opposite side until the enemy has been wiped out from the area. The player takes the role of a private and fights along his/her comrades controlled by AI, slowly gaining influence over fellow soldiers through rank promotions from success in battles.
►Here is the Steam release trailer

There is a demo available to try the game out before you buy it, but it isn't updated often, and last I checked it doesn't feature multiplayer

My god that prealpha is fun.
It should be a beta, though. It has more content that quite a few full games.

I agree. I hope he adds vehicles. It takes forever to travel anywhere.

Sorta like DF.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

Has promise. Feels like it would be cooler with LOS and dynamic lighting though. Right now it reminds me of Cannon Fodder.

Love the great big battles that are started with a small skirmish and slowly develop into 20 on 20, with flankers and
OMG Grenade!

Yes... that's what I was thinking too... but with the promise of co-op multiplayer it's going to be so much -more- fun. War has only been this fun once before.

Urban warfare is AWESOME! Fighting in the corners, leading soldiers and throwing grenades. Took out 6 guys with one grenade. Got the town back too.

Really fun...

I'm sure you're planning more weapons/classes or what not, would make it even more strategic, along with allowing the player (in single player mode) to command troops.  That's assuming we cannot already. :)

Would like to see an option to use W as forward and the mouse as a directional + aim + shoot control though.

Will follow this, nice work thus far though.

Take care,

It's fun but it's impossible to tell which soldier is on which team, which I'm guessing is due to me not being able to use antialiasing...
And is there any way to use grenades? I see them as ammo, but not even the readme mentions them

I heard your like sieges so I put a Goblin fortress in your fortress so you could siege while besieged.

Teams are color-coded. G for grenades.

This game really needs a Medic class. Seriously, the game is fun, but when you've leading 10 or 15 guys to a place for five minutes and you just get one-shotted from some guy in the trees, it really sucks to wait for more guys and walk the same path again.

I really have to squint to see anything though. It seems like there's far too much fog around - plus, I'm playing green, and spotting grey in the dim colours is tough.

Looks super promising though!
