Hah. I used to embark without even looking at the names, as it was generally amusing. I started getting names no respectable fortress could be proud of, though. I monitor names now, but still randomize them.

And here's the mandatory "inb4 minecarft sucks they rippd off dorf fortress"

Really? Seems pretty apples to oranges to me.

The name of my current civ which I didnt pay any attention to: The Adventerous Anus. Thank you dwarf fortress, for giving the worst civ name in my world. On another note, I once had a fort called noblehammer.

I'll just say, Minecraft did not rip off DF, neither did Dwarfs!?

Fortresscraft, on the other hand, is a clear rip-off of Minecraft.

As an australian dorfer, i'm quite proud to control the city of Knifemurders.  That name's gotten a little too... appropriate since it's run out of booze though...

But dwarves can't make knives. :P
The best name I've gotten is probably Steelroars. Guess what we used to kill everything? You get 1 guess, and here's a hint: it wasn't roaring at them.

Exactly. Ethics in DF are very realistic - trivial and pointlessly selectively ex/inclusive.

After hitting "r" a bunch, I once got a group known as "The Sizzling Silvers" who created the fort "SilverComet."  Naturally, silver warhammers were the weapon of choice!

I got fed up with my fortress, so I decided to kill everyone (abandon is for elves) with a cave-in.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

Odd that in my fort named "Anvilwhirled" I have never had a combat report say: "The spinning (iron anvil) strikes the goblin in the head, tearing the skin, shattering the skull and tearing the brain!"
