What's your Dwarven Birth Control like?
« on: August 04, 2011, 11:20:27 pm »

I do it with a 13-level pit with ~20 puppy corpses...

On second thought... Should I name it "Dwarven Birth Control"?

Is there a way to tell if an animal is pregnant (or do they even have pregnancy...)? I think I'd like to have some dog fetus with my plump helmets.

Yes, they do have pregnancy but afaik there's no way to tell if an animal is pregnant. You only can guess. butchering returns are unaffected by pregnancy state, and, finally, there's no such tissue as fetus, so no way.

At least I can imagine that my dwarves are enjoying a juicy well-minced embryo stew.

You could probably mod it in if you were so inclined.  Though you would probably end up with egg-laying dogs, or puppy fetuses running around your fort, or something equally disturbing.

I want my first siege, so I can try this... too bad I can't really drop untamed animals into my pit ;)
