Help with making civs survive world gen?
« on: August 04, 2011, 12:16:11 am »

I'm not talking about the basic stuff, like no eating or drinking, but more like how do I keep my hostile-but-not-a-huge-threat entities from picking fights with everyone and getting slaughtered by humans and megabeasts before they can reproduce?

change the age their children become adults, change how many children they produce - I made my goblins produce eggs of about 10-20, (based on Harn Gargun) and they dominate most of the time.

A lot of that also has to do with the number of caves in the world. You'll notice that if you crank up the caves really high, world gen takes like one minute as all the civs are dead. Since individual civs start with one fragile site, and caves start fully developed and distributed, there is a possible imbalance there as civs might be facing 10 to 1 odds in the early years before they can expand.
