...The good news, your next text will involve fighting an army of mantis-dwarfs!

As much as I loathe to say it, I really want the new features soon, even if they are a wee bit buggy. Oh well, Toady does what Toady wills.
Do not worry, Toady will fulfill your wish, at least partially partially. New version will not be any time soon, but, oh, for sure it will be "a wee bit" buggy. A little, little wee bit.

Priceless.

I can't wait to see all the bugs in the new version.
And find out that Toady accidentally leaves your character with a butcher skill that cuts his own arm off for when he was testing the necromancy.
Or starting out in a new city that accidentally gens with no way out.

It'll be great. 8)

Actually I wonder if Toady will add in a command to chop off your own libs off or will just use a debug command. It could be useful to cut your own infected toe or your rotting foot.

I was thinking it'd be a lot of fun to cut off my hand, animate it, and leave it to guard the cave I'm storing all my accumulated loot in.

Only DF players find the bugs almost as exciting as the new features. Almost.

That's because DF's complexity makes for epic bugs. I forget who said this, but:

Your game's bug: You left the map boundary.
Our game's bug: A horrible abomination whose mere continued existence is a sin against the very essence of nature has arrived at the fortress as a dwarf's pet! Let's elect it to serve as mayor!

Knowing the player base, at least 15 people will find a way to dismember all non-vital organs, appendages, and layers of flesh from their adventurer, and reanimate them as zombie bits.

I suspect I'm going to be (at least!) one of them.

That said, I laughed a bit at DrKillPatient's post.

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

I imagine it will become a new game/200+ page forum thread to find out EXACTLY what body parts regenerate (Hair? Nails? Skin? Fat?) and how to sever them in non-fatal ways as many times as possible to generate huge armies of your own flesh.

People will mod in extra limbs for the explicit purpose of tearing them off for extra manpower.

As far as bugs go, I'm hoping that trying to reanimate sleeping townspeople will create evil zombie twins, à la Army of Darkness
