Smalls of Tolla: OOC Thread
« on: August 08, 2011, 03:18:47 pm »

This is the OOC thread for Smalls of Tolla. Race Sheets can be posted here or in the RP thread itself. After posting, wait until I approve you, and then post your opening paragraph. And most of all, have fun!

Permanent settlements grow when they reach the following population milestones.

Permanent Colony Sizes
Camp: 10
Village: 40
Town: 80
City: 160
Metropolis: 320

Food
Each Small eats about 1 Food per turn. Not eating for a single turn has no severely negative effects, but prolonged hunger will cause starvation and death. As your population grows, hunting and gathering will no longer be enough to support your population.

Travel
Smalls (on fin ;)) travel faster on Easy terrain that they are used to (their natural habitat) or is easily crossed. Smalls on Normal terrain travel the default speed. This terrain is neither inhibiting or particularly easy. Rough terrain slows down certain Smalls and cuts their travel speed in half. Entering or exiting a tile of Rough terrain will use up all their movement for their turn.

Roads/travel lanes and other constructions minimize danger and obstacles, decreasing travel difficulty by one stage. They may be improved to decrease travel time by one more stage (until it reaches Easy). More advanced things could make travel faster (trams, subs, boats, blimps, and other things).

I'll try this...

Name: (Lofan/Lofani)
Starting Spot: (Chasms/canyon in the seafloor)
Description: A large shelled race. Their shell covers the entirety of their body except for one opening. This opening also has a beak and tentacles within it. The tentacles can extend a quarter of a body away. The lofani move slowly, allowing the currents to be their fins. However, they can stay in place by using their tentacles and move rapidly by using blowing out water from its opening. They have a simple form of sonar. They inhabit the seas of the world but usually stay in the canyons of the sea, as their favored prey inhabit these areas.

Remember that you will be the size of about a grain of sand.  ;) Other than the one meter tentacle, that's fine.

We might not have used it much if at all, but we did have a thing for defining how small small was with these games :)
Here it be.

I'd like to join, if possible.

Name: Yaffi (singular and plural)
Starting Spot: Sulfur Vents
Description: Yaffi consist of colonial bundles of threadlike tendrils, resembling jellyfish. They lack most sensory organs, but detect vibration and chemical changes quite well. They swim quickly by threshing their tendrils behind them. Yaffi prefer the sulfur-rich waters near volcanic vents, but are incredibly expansionist.

Name: Flannigans
Starting Spot: Kelp(?) field
Description: Small humanoids with a pipe like tail that they are able to shunt water out of as a propellant. Flannigans prefer the kelp fields for the abundance of food and fertile ground for both farming and hunting.
As for a building color, Orange if possible, otherwise anything.

Jeez, that was a long post. Do you think that those of you who haven't chosen a color can tell me what you want yours to be?

Also, turns will go like this: Each person posts what they do on said turn, I update with the results of your actions, you post... etc. etc. You know, really basic. However, try to keep all the things you do on that turn in one post.

This is pretty freeform, so I'm open to negotiating if you disagree with something or want to try something out.
