Dwarf Fortress in the Media
« on: August 10, 2011, 04:06:21 pm »

I noticed that there were several threads discussing individual articles in the mainstream media about Dwarf Fortress, but there were no central threads for stories and interviews. As far as I could find, at least.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done web searches for dwarf fortress to try to read all the various interviews and reviews on the net. This thread is meant to be a collection of links to make this kind of reading easier.

EDIT: I'll be ignoring this list and only updating pages on the wiki here

I find it very helpful, so it deserves some attention.

Working on it, but I'm having a little trouble getting something written to a new line rather than a new paragraph.

I try to write something like this:

"Title and link to interview"
-Relevant description/info
-Relevant description/info

But it's either all on one line, or it comes out like this:

"Title and link to interview"

-Relevant description/info

-Relevant description/info

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've never edited a wiki before.

While you are at it, could you include dates on the 'Developer interviews' page? Helps to sort out which interview is most recent and relevant.

Maybe even sort the interviews by date.

I've been gone from the forums for a while due to some computer problems, but now that I've got a new laptop I'm back. This thread is not completely dead! This post is mostly to serve as a statement of intent.

Spitfire, I'll try to have the dates added by Thursday. If I can't figure out how to start a new line properly, then they'll be a bit messy.

I'm not sure where to file the articles in the Wiki, so I'm deciding between adding a new heading for them and maybe changing the title of the page (which I don't want to mess with if I can help it). There just doesn't seem to be enough content to warrant a whole new page.

I'd just broaden the scope of the Developer Interviews article. You can add a redirect from "developer interviews" to "interviews and articles".

(slightly OT)

I wonder if Neal Stephenson's book REAMDE touches on DF, specifically the very accurate world generation in T'Rain (video game described in the book.)

Links

Oh, wow. I didn't know about those. I guess I just have to make sure all the information is on the wiki. As far as I can tell, there's still a space for me to put up the articles, so I don't have to feel entirely redundant.

I popped the articles in, but reformatting the interviews will have to wait for another day.
