Refuse Stockpiles use Furniture list
« on: October 30, 2006, 09:30:00 am »

Just like the title says; refuse stockpiles show a list of furniture types to be turned on and off instead of refuse types. In other words, instead of, say <bones>, I see <doors> and so on. This is with a fortress carried over from the previous version, if that matters.

I *think* that is intentional, as things can become refuse if they are broken.

Not sure that functionality is implemented though.

(the list contains ALL objects, not just furniture, by the way)

I see this with a new world made with the new version.  I havent seen them store furniture in it though, they've just left it wherever since i dont have a furniture pile yet.

If durability (like obsidian swords) is ever implemented, I'm sure furniture will break eventually.

Yeah, all of your wooden/plant/silk objects are rotting away veeeery slowly.  You can notice it more if you do several reclaims or revisit a fortress after a few decades.  There are also some XXitemsXX that get dropped by broken buildings (usually by mistake), and then there's the clothing that wears away.  It should go to designated refuse piles at the proper time, though instead of a crazy menu like this there should probably just be one or a few options for damaged objects.

It would be nice if common refuse items were near the top, because I took a quick look and decided it was broken, too.  Also, I'm going to be creating refuse piles for corpses and bones much more often than for chairs and cabinets.

Okay, I'll clean it up a bit.
