Can someone explain this to me?

The current wrestling behavior as related to chokeholds and strangling:

1. Get a nicely beefed-up adventurer together, then find a warthog.  Put a chokehold on it, and strangle it repeatedly.  It will bleed to death.

2. Now take that same adventurer, and go for a different warthog.  This time, put the chokehold on it but don't do anything else; just sit there and wait.  It will choke to death.

Yes, you're crushing the throat, and that probably leads to internal bleeding, but I was under the impression that strangling deaths resulted ultimately from a lack of air, not a lack of blood.  Why is it that I have to hold the chokehold to force the creature to choke to death?  This is also slightly abusable, since if I want to I can simply throttle my opponent until they start getting heavy bleeding, at which point I can probably walk away and let them bleed out, but more than that I want to understand what the deal is.

I haven't gotten a chance to flesh out the nature of wounds yet, and right now it interprets all serious throat damage as both a breathing and a damaged circulatory spraying problem.  So it's kinda like Road House or something, where the warthog said something about prison and you got upset and tore its throat out.

Once you put a chokehold on, the creature can no longer breath.  So if you aren't actively gouging its throat out (the current strangle command), it'll eventually die.  This will be altered in the future once wounds have more resolution.

:) I see.  Well, I kinda noticed the bit you mentioned about it being both a bleeding and a breathing problem when I saw how in-game the characters would always end up pale and suffering from heavy bleeding after being throttled.  I also noticed that when holding the chokehold that the creature gets winded IIRC, but doesn't get pale.
