That would only happen once you make a gigaproject by making an even more detailed cacame colossus, giant statues of all the clowns of your world, and an even bigger statue of Tholtig.

And it looks like video is chock-full of dwarf fortress references too...

These aren't specifically DF references. All of them apply to dwarves in general. Dwarf Fortress is not the only thing with dwarves in it, ever.

I enjoy this animation, but if you pay close attention you'll notice that not a single hole is dug. Oh, sure, they're pretending to hit the blocks, but the terrain remains undamaged. It's all a big lie. :(

Very cute.

As was pointed out - they are not digging. I can handle that. I've run enough forts to see shit not get done.

But they are drinking from mugs!?! Not from the Mountainhome, these odd dwarfs. That's for elves. (Except the bloke under the barrel - he seems normal.)

(Thanks. That song'll be in my head the remainder of the day and it's only 0630.)

9 5 5?  I don't know that that quite works out...

Hmm...

I have oddly been inspired by this video to make fortresses with more multi-level open spaces, and in particular a long retractable walkway over a long pit leading to a lake full of magma which will serve as the entrance to my fortress.

A dwarf stands, contemplating,
Diggy diggy hole!
An aquifer was broken.

--or--

A dwarf stands, contemplating,
Diggy diggy hole!
A magma pipe was broken.

(I only post the first because I almost just made an aquifer error.)

Haiku are difficult to create in a strict Japanese sense, because the concept of the seventeen "on" in three phrases doesn't translate out quite right to the English "syllables".  English speaking types these days seem to happily disregard any attempt at translating the strict line length rules in favor of just making something that sounds wise and care more about how many breaths it takes to say it or how profound it sounds.  Regardless, I was always taught that the most accurate way to create a poem in a similar style would be seventeen syllables divided into line lengths of 5, 7, then 5 again.

Wow, now I feel weird nitpicking about this.  I just wanted to toss up my own haiku.  Anyway...

I have an odd feeling that I'm the only person in this thread who knows what the Yogscast is...

@acetech: Like lectorog said, those are dwarf references, not DF references. Also, the diamond texture is the one that they use for all their Minecraft videos.

On a related note, Simon does reference DF multiple times throughout his and Lewis's YT broadcasts.

On a more related note, someone should remake this with DF graphics.
