The Breakthrough, as they would later refer to it, was considered first a tool for studying history and humanity without interfering. Endless alternative realities, different from our dimension with varying amounts. Thousands of 'what-if' theorists suddenly found out if their theories were indeed correct, millions of historians received an opportunity to study their subjects on a much more personal scale than ever before - even if it was not often perfectly identical to our world. And endless time travel enthusiasts found a possible way to live their fantasies.
Travel to these dimensions was soon proven possible, but while the physical bodies survived the trip, the minds of the volunteers didn't. And automated machinery could only go so far.
Only thirteen years after the Breakthrough, an estranged scientist figured out a way to project the minds of people to these worlds unharmed, as long as they entered an already existing being's mind in the process. When he revealed his invention to the world, he had no idea what he had created.
Mankind now had a way to live all of their fantasies and do almost anything with few consequences. This practice, dubbed 'bodysurfing' by the general public, instantly became immensely popular. While officially illegal, those who knew where to look could always find bodysurfer dens, and as the machines became cheaper to manufacture, their use only grew and grew.
Recently, a certain corporation has announced its plans to host a contest that will be broadcasted to every inch of inhabited space, where contestants perform three set tasks in different dimensions, with even an obligatory audience participation element. The winner gets more money than anyone could ever possibly need - pocket change for a corporation that will, if the show is successful, receive money from the votes of billions of humans all over the galaxy.

Name/Codename: The name of the contestant - or codename, if the person is worried about running into trouble with the law.
Starting Trait: See below. The contestant can be a Scanner, a Dominator, an Infiltrator or the Audience Favorite.
Background: Fully optional, if the contestant does not wish to reveal too much about him or herself.
The rolls are made with a normal 1d6.
Upon taking a new host body, the player will roll for Choice (determining how well-suited the body is to your purposes), Subduing (so the host's mind cannot distract you at the worst possible moments) and Knowledge (which you will need to know where you are, as well as to act according to the personality, memories, habit etc of the host).
At the beginning of each world, the Overseers will give you three objectives. You will gain one point per objective completed. If you complete all objectives before the time limit is over, you may ask the Overseers for transfer to the next world ahead of everyone else.
At the end of each world, the audience will vote to either reward you or punish you, depending on your actions and their whims. Rewards include bonuses to rolls and physical equipment transported over to the alternative reality.
There is a cooldown after every Body Jump - ranging from 2 to 8 turns. During this time, you cannot change bodies again.
Scanner - This contestant has learned to identify the best candidates for Jumps and is much better at choosing the next host. (+1 Bonus to Choice Roll)
Dominator - This contestant enjoys nothing as much as beating the minds of hosts into submission. He subdues minds with ease. (+1 Bonus to Subdue Roll)
Infiltrator - The host will not even notice he's been taken over - this contestant can access the minds of hosts much faster. (+1 Bonus to Knowledge Roll)
Audience Favorite - Perhaps a celebrity or simply liked because of his charm and looks, this contestant goes to the battle armed with the hearts of the generous audience. (+1 Bonus to Audience Vote rolls)
