volcano collapsing?

so, i was wondering, is it possible to collapse a volcano? by which channel out everrything for the ile around it all down to the magma sea, leaving one tile being the only thing suppourting the entire tube? now, when you collaapse the tube into the sea, the magma should begin to spread out, covering the world. this would work best with one of the volcanos that is just a tube, with no mountain around it

I don't know, and if nobody else does either I suggest you do science to it. :| This is an interesting idea.

You could theoretically do that, but I don't know what will happen to the lava inside the volcano. Volcanoes have indefinitely respawning lava inside, so I guess it will keep refilling the area it can much like a drained river.

You would have to stop quite a bit short before you reach the undiggable though :p

Hell, you'd only have to go down about 4-5 z lvls to collapse the top.
