Been playing Pandemic. It's deceptively hard, and great fun if you're into coop games.

People need to devise over the internet board playing capabilities.

I REALLY hope I am not the one who invents it.

Pretty much the most played board game I had.

Ruleset was terrible though. You rolled to TURN. Fuck that. Rewrote turning back then.

Dunno if you guys have seen the free Memoir '44 Online on Steam (you get X free plays, to keep playing you purchase credits) but its pretty slick and hopefully an indicator of a new trend.  Sadly, its not a game I'm very interested in, but I am really hoping that this sort of thing catches on.

He's referring to VASAL, an online board game system. They have modules for quite a lot of games.

I can make up websites at a moments notice complete with a made up program that works too. I just don't want to >_>

Unfortunately my computer says that VASAL is a security risk... So I am worried.

Is this a virus?

I just got the forbidden island for my birthday and we just played our first game, I was suprised to find out that despite the completely different theme and packaging, the gameplay mechanics are an almost exact copy of pandemic (turns out they were created by the same author). I've only had limited experience with both games, but the forbidden island seemed a bit more streamlined and has better better artwork and feel. It's refreshing to play a coop game every once in a while.

You know what the worst thing is about board games?

You need time and players, and I have neither :(

Yeah... That is why I tried to look for a way to play boardgames online (but unfortunately all I got was a suspicious program).

It really does make things easier on both those accounts.

I think maybe I'll try to meat something out with Maptools and use the Freeware MTG playing game. The combination of the two COULD work maybe... but it would be a bit inconvenient.

My other idea was simply to stream a video.

Vassal is super well-known. People use it all the time to play all sorts of games. I personally like the interaction with people, so I've not really tried Vassal much. We do boardgaming Fridays at my university :)

If you don't trust those guys, at least trust this guy you probably know even less about.

Vassal is great. I'm currently running the Battlestar Galactica Boardgame on another forum, you can read it here if you want. Yes, it's so handy, I use it for games even if I run them on a forum instead of PBEM. It is in no way a virus, spy program, or other malware.

Wait, are you saying that, with this program, you can essentially play board games on a forum? And why is no one running games here???

I would for sure if I hated playing games with living people sitting where I can hit them and/or high-five them. Man, it sure sucks I get to play in one room with everyone.

What I really don't like are the people that will quit when they aren't winning (or some other reason equally as stupid). That is so much harder/rarer when they are sitting in front of you.
