Too bad he didnt live long to enjoy his promotion! Well if you wanna hear the story than ill say it. So I had a dabbling marksdwarf and i was before the river so some lizardmen sprung from ambush! And he was just picking up his equipment w/c was in his room so he had to use the axe he was carrying so he managed to chop off the heads! then he got promoted but he was killed by an aardvark.

there arent any aardvarks in the game.  i just ran a text search through the raw files to be sure.

ah, thats true.  but im still a bit confused on the story.

so it was a marksdwarf that had an axe?  or was it a carpenter/woodcutter that you drafted?  did he get legendary axedwarf from the kills?  why was he a dabbling marksdwarf, were you cross-training him or something?

I don't understand how a dabbling marksdwarf can suddenly become a champion after killing a few lizardmen.

Probably he dropped the axe and got the xbow but didnt have time to get the bolts

Maybe it was a bug, he had full iron plate armour (chosen in embark menu) a quiver and a shield
