Alright, so I joined this game a couple days ago, I'm a Miner/Scientist in Newbland and I've just been getting money and stone. What exactly should I do afore emigrating to Libya?

Is it okay to start moving to libya yet? I only have 24% exp on my engineer and for some reason I can't do the operate job for the GM.  It's getting kinda boring knowing that my guy is just sitting there.

That's why I ended up moving over.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I am going to train my hunting profession overnight, then head on over tomorrow.

How does owning a "plot" work? Should I just get another profession instead until we start getting developed? Could branch out into building.

Also, I noticed there was no woodcutting book in the Newbyork library....hm?

Woodcutting isn't a profession anyone can do it..

Also if your discovering at Libya stick to the forests because I think we can support building mines enough to not need outcrops now.

I also joined a day or two ago, scientist 2 / farmer 4 so far. I am currently trying to get a bit more money before leaving. Might also try to get scientist to rank 3 and a third profession (suggestions are always welcome) before heading for Libya.

Let me know if I should bring any resources.

We are actually getting to the point where we don't have to import resources, only thing I could suggest is iron or bricks but by tomorrow I think we'll have at least the brickyard up

Wow how are people leveling up so fast...  Makes me think I should have made a str oriented character.

Okay Scientists please limit your Discovering to the forests and Kufra Mines,  Boatmurdered and Oilfurnaces both have resources that are probably better utilized with mines instead of looking for outcrops (each outcrop discovered lower the resource by 5% I think as per here

Also an Ore mine and Quarry have completed and since I'm not a miner I'm putting them up for sale.

Quarry: $250 (Int first dibs)
Ore Mine: $300 Reelya

(Base price+labor costs)

I think Inteuniso wants the Quarry so we'll see when he gets up ( just went to bed)

I went to Libya straight after the tutorial, then I realised I should probably get some stuff first, so I'm on the way back to newb land.

I'm 70 str/ 30 int with Mining profession. What other professions should I go? Maybe building since I see a lot of incomplete buildings in town.

Minings good, building I would be kinda iffy with though since we got several builders working on those incomplete buildings (Most of them was RF spamming buildings for some reason)
