Oh yes, yes, yes! I killed a Dragon!
« on: September 04, 2011, 09:16:41 am »

My dwarves are hanging out in a clearing on the edge of a thick forest.

Everything this time has gone well for them.  Its year 514, we started in 500. Now we have 114 dwarves.  Along comes Acathi, the Dragon.  A gigantic magical critter.  So, I figured this was going to be the beginning of some fun.  Out march my meager 10 dwarf military to their deaths.

They... did not get blasted by the fire....  because Acathi timed it poorly.  And what's this???  DEAD DRAGON!

HEY MOM! DEAD DRAGON!!!!!! COME SEE!!!!!!!

It produced a TON of food when cut up.  I am talking about 132 dragon meat alone.

Fan-freaking-tastic!!!!!!!

Ahem... now... back to watching them haul this stuff off...

100 meat... Uh, guy. It sounds more like you killed a baby dragon. A cow gives 10-14 meat. As far as I am aware, meat depends on the creature's size. So you killed a thing about as big as ten cows. By comparison, a whale gives over 500 meat. Not to make you feel inadequate, but yeah...

Technically, 10 cows weighs quite a bit more than a Ton, so he's actually right, though underjudging it a bit.

[edit]

Just to confirm, 5 cows weighs approx. 3.75 tons.

God I love the internet.

This is because it takes dragons much longer to mature than whales. Dragons also take 1000 years to reach their adult size- figure a 200 year world gen, and your dragon will be the size of an adult elephant, which provides comparable meat/bones. So yeah, angsty teenage dragon is about right.

Of course, a whale doesn't have the x15 value multiplier...

250 years head start. If you generate an 800 year old world, all surviving dragons will be mature.

LOL!!!!!

I suppose you are right. I will compensate for my inadequacy by building a long, straight tower. Lol!

Hey remember that wailing on teenagers is an acceptable activity for dwarves. Anyway taking down a dragon no matter the age is great.
