The Leaky D20, a Harry Potter screencap comic
« on: September 14, 2011, 12:40:52 pm »

Hi all, I've started a webcomic in the style of DM of the Rings and Darths & Droids: screenshots from a movie captioned as if it was a roleplaying campaign. It's called The Leaky D20, and uses screenshots from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The first strip is here, and all strips so far are here.

I hope you like it!

One thing I think that worked well for Darths and Droids was the way that the personalities playing the characters were very firmly established.  Knowing that the guy behind Qi-Gon was erratic and clueless made the character funny.  Annie's constant body swaps shook things up and made you wonder how future plots would develop.  And turning the minor character of R2 into a main character changed the dynamic.  Try to make sure that your plot intersects the original plot but does not run parallel.

Every winter my Uncle Bilbert used to go out and buy clothes for his entire hobbit family.  I remember the first year I came along with him shopping.  His tongue was swollen up so he was unable to speak but my uncle Bilbert was not concerned.  He simply took me and my cousins to town and proudly presented his young relatives to the shopkeeper.  The wise old clothesmaker just smiled and started taking measurements.  After so many years of business he didn't hesitate to in fur my uncle's hobbits.

If it's dubbed and not subbed, it's not worth watching.

Making whoever's RPing Ron a DF player is a very viable option in my eyes.

Not everything needs DF reference. If you find a situation where it would work well, go ahead, but adding in references for the sake of having a reference is just stupid.

Anyway, I like the comic so far, and how Harry's player is an angsty roleplayer and Hermoine's is a bit a minmaxer; it fits them well.

I have no doubt he's psychotic, but that's a given on these forums.

I agree with Pyrate on this.
But then again, it's your comic and your decisions..
