Not everything needs to be named after a villager. >.<
I disagree.

Yeah anything like antlers or horns should be considered on par with a spear or other melee weapon. SO sayeth the sas survival handbook.

Hunt the Rexhorns for raw materials and food.
We need meat, leather and I have an idea for the horns and bones. We can also boil the hooves down for glue.

of course we may always use the horn/bones for hooks and arrow/spearheads if we hunt them... but were is the thing that made them evolve horns? wolves? bears?

edit: donesent that take forever to make those, or was that only the mongolian type?

Boiling down the glue can take up to a week, depending on climate, but our little guys seem to be able to bend space and time to get things done.

Horns are also used for digging for roots and scraping at bark, and shows of dominance in mating displays. There very well be few or no predators. I still think we should be cautious about hunting them though. Get three or four poeple with spears then work to seperate one from the herd, surrond it then stab at it from the flanks until there's an opening then go for the kill.

Those things look tough as nails, andthey're eating the source of the worst opponents we've faced yet. Thinking in terms of Dwarf Fortress, I usually prefer to capture and tame the fiercest thing on my map, rather than butcher it.

I'm not against hunting one for now, but I'm concerned for the amount of damage they could deal and our lack of medical skill and supplies (thank goodness for cloth, though).

Just have Hans ambush one and kill it with his sword.  Then haul it back to base, get meat out of it, and find salt or something to preserve it.

Also, work on developing rolphin oil extraction technology.

We have clay jars and cloth. That's all you really need.

pit traps by the trees should be the safest  way to hunt these creatures. trying to hunt them with melee weapons is just stupid.

we're by a lake, that's where we drink.
