I beieve it was.. you.  :o
And Jacen jumped the bandwagon.
I did NOT try to reason with it in the way you are implying.

The difference between my action and diplomacy is the difference between telling a man with a sword to stick his hands in the air, and walking up to him and trying to be friends. BIG difference. The difference is intimidation and warning Vs. befriending and diplomacy.

Edit: About the trees.. Who says that is the ONLY source of monsters?
I don't see how that's arguing against me.

I did not say they are the only source.

I said they are a potential source. That is all around us. And in great numbers.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

I don't think the moat is a good idea, it would take a long time to build, and the gap so far isn't to hard to leap over.

Unless we follow my plan of putting a ramp with stick wall on top behind it. You'd risk at least giving yourself a concussion if you tried to flat out jump (then you'd slide into the moat, which may result in drowning), and to climb you'd have to go into the moat first.

...
Code: (What I would imagine it looking like) [Select]
M=Moat
S=Reinforced sticks.
P=Clay ramps.
D="Drawbridge" (plank which can be angled like a wall but is long enough to get across the moat, extends up to "Three tiles", AKA in actual function the length of the moat).
R=River.
.=Etc.

I think the moat is the next best thing to a wooden palisade, which I imagine is going to take even longer.

Better in my opinion, though, is the leaning-log watch tower I mentioned earlier in this thread. All we would need for that would be about five logs- three to lean against each other like the posts of a teepee,a fourth one to plane for the platform, and the fifth with branches intact for climbing up and down.

Think something like this, but taller:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Of course, holing up in the tower against anything and everything would be a bad idea- we would want to keep men on the ground to guard the base- but at least we would have a safe place to rest and store small possessions, as well as a structure that could be beneficial in latter stages...

At any rate, chopping more logs is probably a good idea. Wood appears to be our most valuable resource at the moment.

somebody should get the other nest in the southwesternmost tree, and the designated cook prepares breakfast for everyone.
the fisherman should go fish, the morning's the best time

Have Jaian approach the Greater Land Jaians carefully.
You never know if they can be easily enraged.

Chop logs into easier to roll pieces.
It appears slimes are very squishable.

Jaian should also examine the grasses the Land Jaians eat, to see if they produce grain or useful fibres.

I think it would have been wiser to remove the trees to the right of the camp, just incase another stickman comes out of them...

This.

And save those logs for building something!

Have someone craft a large hammer, designed to squish slimes.

DONT COOK THE EGGS

He's right. If we cook the eggs, come nightfall we will find ourselves under attack by some terrible, cholesterol-spitting shell minions.
