What we need, is magma...

That would require:

1: An area away from the river. Easily enough, but...

2: A way to find it.

3: A way to get it flowing without a death.

4: A way to get it up.

We lack 2 and 4, and I'd assume we also lack 3.

So no magma for you.

We currently lack any real magma proof items to make a pumpstack.

And we are definitely not going to make a pumpstack out of wood. :P

What we could do, is create a wall of wooden corkscrew pumps along the moat facing the forest and wash those nasty slimes way!

Alas, that would send a tsunami across the map, knocking some poor adventurer into a pool of alligators.

Did some math, even before you started adding a fifth layer to the bricks there were 112 of them.  I suggest you give the brickmakers a chance to catch up with their pile, or update the inventory count.

Have hans and franz cover the west while jaian and Picky watch east. Then have 2 non-named peasants watch north.

Everyone who doesn't have a hatchet/a pick should keep a fire hardened spear.

Have the new peasants begin crafting more spears out of the sticks we currently have, and everyone else, but our digger should arm themselves with a spear. Our digger should move to the inside of the moat, and finish digging it as fast as possible.

Have hans and franz cover the west while jaian and Picky watch east. Then have 2 non-named peasants watch north.

This, and have one of the peasants use a particularly hefty branch as a cudgel, in case they encounter anything that needs to be pounded rather than stabbed.

Use the rest of the Planks to quickly build a makeshift wall over the last gap.
