If we use springy wood and sharpened stakes, we can make bear traps. Failing that, dig a bunch of holes a foot deep and lining each with downward-angled spikes.

drying seawater for salt is not only difficult, it's also disgusting. You don't get just salt.

The point is moot, we have no saltwater to dry.

We should tame some rolphins.

Or build some kind of wall around the shore to the lake. i worry about lake beasts or what will happen if the orange slime try to flank us.

We fend them off with Spears, Axes, and Green Sword that is what we do.

I suggest we have Chloe carefully uproot those berry trees with a shovel, then have the workers haul them into the fortified area, where we can plant them. Never underestimate the value of having something to eat before your socks during a siege.

We should also snag some nails from those merchants before the day is over (if we can) and make sure we have enough rope for a fishing net. Using the nails, we could build a small fishing boat, and obtain a lot more Rolphin or whatever else that way.

We don't need nails, we just need to overlap each plank and seal it. Viking longboat style, or Chinese junk style, if you prefer.

We can always make a raft, or carve a boat out of a single tree trunk. Don't forget, there are boat pieces on the shore that we haven't checked for stuff. It might have some nails in the planks we could use, which could come in handy.

I especially like the first idea, but how would we seal the boat? Pitch and ash?

YES.
