Let's Play A Valley Without Wind

(1/1)

Hyfrydle:
Hi All

Here is part 1 of my A Valley without Wind Let's Play http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXbWDeGwhc4&list=UUwP5_ovZZaaCW-8C9xyCXIg&feature=plcp

This game is currently in beta and changing all the time. Checkout the Arcen website for more info. Hope to have part 2 up within a day or two.

Servant Corps:
I, um, wanted to say that I am interested in the premise of the game, but somehow the LP doesn't really seem to show the game off in a manner that would allow me to enjoy said game. If there is a civilization/management/crafting component, it could be shown via screenshots (which is very useful because then I could read the tooltips), and the actual combat segments could be shown in a video. But the combat doesn't seem all that interesting (just casting spells), and it appears the combat the's whole point of the game (and management is only a means to winning combat)...

Anyway, I just posted to say "Thank you for bringing this game to my attention, but I don't really think I feel interested enough to follow."

EDIT: Actually, no, I think I'm still curious for one thing. The management portion of the game. I want to see how they jury-rig that into the combat portion of the game, and I want to see how deep/shallow it is.

Hyfrydle:
At the moment the strategy part of the game is locked until level 3 which I should reach shortly then more unlocks at level 6. As the game is in beta this part is quite sparse but lot's of things are planned and with a patch nearly everyday it's rapidly improving.

Here is part 2 with a bit more gameplay although I don't manage to reach level 3 maybe next time:

Check the demo out and keep an eye on the forums maybe you will find something you will like.

Servant Corps:
I noticed that the LP is still being continued on here:

I hope I didn't scare you away.

Anyway, question time, are all lieutenants and bosses in this game look like "portals"? That's a rather unique game decision. And can there only be one settlement you can control or can you manage and hide out in more than one settlement?

EDIT: Part 7 of your series indicate that you haven't found a second settlement yet, so that would probably explain how you create new settlements (finding them first).
