Interesting deities.
« on: October 08, 2011, 11:49:37 am »

So yeah, I've found a really...interesting Deity that my mason worships.

The crafts of Momuz are really peculiar, they almost always show Momuz being terrified.

Feel free to post interesting deities that you have found and discuss the ones presented.

I've had, in my previous fortress, a deity named Tabmik Hogcancer, god of Death, Disease and something else suitably unpleasant which was related to the other d's but I forgot it. Probably also starting with a d. Fun thing is that I once saw him encrusted in some cheap gem on a bolt. This bolt was then used to shoot a Goblin siege-leader in it's black heart. That single shot killed the leader and defeated the assault. Hail Tabmik!

Also, this seems to be my current pantheon.

A tiny, foul-tempered humanoid creature that dwells in the evil mountains. They are known to enjoy drinking liquor and will take any unguarded supplies of booze.

I had a god of Refuse once. She was depicted as a dwarf in a fecal position.

I once flung a migrant off a bridge. He collided with the brook cliff and died.
A year later, my legendary engraver engraved him colliding with an obstacle and dying.

Looked around a bit in the other gods, there's one of rebirth, death, and suicide.

I think my entire civilization is some sort of death-cult.

I have a goddess of disease, but most of my other ones have to do with gems, nature, minerals, and the like.

One of the most popular gods in my civilization seems to be one who takes the form of a male red squirrel, and is associated with trees, oceans, and salt.

Oh, i do have a goddess of lust though.

I have a fluffy wambler god in one of my forts.  I'm not sure what his sphere is. Punching holes in the heads of Bronze Colossi, perhaps.

Clearly you need to appease her by sacrificing Elven merchants.

...

How can you see whether or not a skeleton is female btw?

I'll need to see if I have some interesting deities in the fortress.

edit: I have Iklist Nirurnazom, Iklist the Unseen Dreams, who seems to be fairly prolific. Takes the shape of a male dwarf and is associated with gambling and darkness. I don't really see the connection but they work well with his name.
There's Litast Saramurdim Alakidek, Litast Greattower the Ace of Brains. Takes the form of a female dwarf and is associated with War and Fortresses.
There's a male god of agriculture, one of minerals, one of mountains, one with boundaries (!).
There's a goddess of Jewels, a goddess of discipline, order and revenge (kinky and terrifying), a goddess associated with Wisdom, a goddess of freedom and a few more.

The goddesses seem te be cooler.

Wouldn't you need either experience in these sort of things or a clearly defined skeleton of the opposite or the same gender to compare it with?

'sides, they're dwarfs. Short, squat and lumpy.

A human can tell a human male from a human female, dwarves can probably tell their own apart as well.
