Discoveries Made in Arena Mode
« on: October 15, 2011, 01:02:00 pm »

This is a place to post things you find interesting about Dwarf Fortress that you discovered by messing around in arena mode.

-----

A bronze colossus finger is a surprisingly effective weapon, as long as you don't try to use it against a bronze colossus. May Bat Man 1 rest in peace for his Jenkins-like attitude.

Vomit appears to sever a dwarf's dick quite well.

The cast of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will happily brutally murder the other with their bare hooves if Celestia says they have to.

Taken out of context, this makes a nice, if misleading, signature.

I discovered that creatures on fire can sometimes stay on fire forever without dying (because fire never actually destroys body parts), as well as the fat-melting problems and other weird things I pointed out many months ago.

Oh, and I saw someone get a burn wound to his brain once. He was fine, though.

Only a tiny portion of dark gnomes will live long enough due to bloodloss to be beaten to death with their own guts.

Creatures falling together don't cushion each other.

Caveins knock creatures that started on the same tile, into the same tile.

Goblins who can fire webs are MUCH scarier than the normal kind. What mortal being can drive a SILVER dagger through an ADAMANTINE helm?

Also, for more !!FUN!! with the webs, try modding them so they burn immediately when they're launched. Fatty fat globs galore.

I think this problem is fixed for the next release.

My discovery - a no skill dwarf in adamantine beats a legendary dwarf in steel 99% of the time.

Alpacas bleed out EXTREMELY fast, yaks are very tough, a bronze colossus's phallus makes a great throwing weapon.

And when the site infiltration feature is done, we can do that thing where two short people disguise themselves as one tall guy in a trenchcoat. Except the two people in question will be halves of the same person.
The perfect disguise.

Which problem? And are you sure? I'd love to see a quote or something.

The player-controlled dragonfire worked on all those elves in the arena, and things will actually catch on fire now instead of just melting. Forgotten beast webbers work properly (they are broken in the version you have now, as many of you know). Various cleanup on the interaction interfaces. I still have a page of issues for each of the new night creatures, and six and a half pages for the cities/markets/underground, in addition to the animal stuff. At least things are moving along again.

Interesting, although I doubt it really takes care of the issues I mentioned. If the fatty tissue stuff were fixed, I'd think I would see something about it on the bugtracker report.
