anyone done this before?
« on: October 18, 2011, 04:50:29 pm »

Just wondering if this would work.. create a zone, make it a pasture. Build a raising bridge in the zone. Attach lever. Pasture animals. Pull lever. Animals go flying? (i'd test it but uh.. can't right now)

I am fairly sure that the animals will be tossed some tiles. That is based on what I've read on the forums, never tried doing this myself.

well yeah, the idea is to make a reloadable animal-pult. Or just use the catsplosion factor and make a real catapult ? (sorry, had to)

I suppose the dwarves would reload the catapult by dragging all the animals who didn't die back to the pasture, y'know, the ones which hits another creature. I don't think that damage is taken to either part upon impact, making it only effective to get war animals on top of archers and such more quickly.

I'm gonna bridgeapult my military dwarves during sieges. I don't care if 90% of them are going to die because they miss.

you'd have to lower the bridge before any of the animals are put back.. but that would be funny, too

Unfortunately raising bridges don't work well as catapults.
When bridge is raised, creatures standing on it will be thrown about 1-5 tiles in random direction, thats all.

sufficiently heavy creatures will actually prevent the bridge from functioning at all. The only experience i have with this is that trolls have prevented me from raising my drawbridge designed to protect the trade depot.
