Things that make you feel like being a dwarf?
« on: October 19, 2011, 06:14:22 am »

Hi guys again,
I just had a shocking insight about myself in DF....
I was afk a minute, game is paused as I arrive again, and I see an elven caravan....
First thing I do?
designating all trees around my fortress as "woodsource", if you know what I mean...
Made me realize that, even though I just began playing DF in summor vacation, I have been warped to dwarfen attitude....
Some insights about yourself on your parts?

My trade depot is set to flood with water at the pull of a lever.  It's deep in the tunnels with easy drainage.  I call it my "water for goods" trading policy.

Sometimes I feel like taking that big hunk of rock behind our garage and chiseling some piece of furniture out of it. Maybe decorate it with menacing spikes of rock as well.

It happens. Don't worry over-much about it.

You claim it was summer vacation when you first played? So a season long, it took. You'd have turned into a dorf before too long, anyway, DF just helped you get there quicker.

Welcome to the club. There is a lever on the left, a padded room on the right and plenty of cupcakes and ale straight ahead. If you need help, please look for the ale. (If you wait a while, behind you there will be magma, but I can't scream it correctly. Just a friendly head's up.)

It isn't undwarvenly for them to brang an eagle as long as you don't actually pay for it.

Being able to run around naked, drunk, swinging an axe into hordes of Goblins and sleeping for weeks at a time.

aw man...
brang, brought, badang.......
Are you guys such spelling nerds? (no offense XD)
I'm from germany and have my 9th year english, my teacher would have crucified me, and I would have been laughed at if the people at my school knew.
Not much different from pretty much anything else I do.
I just wonder:
Last year, I seized everything they had (needed cloth for bags and berries for survival),
this year, not even a comment and such a nice animal...
These seem to be some nice elves.

I'm actually totally okay with the elves, until they throw a bitch fit because i didn't notice that prepared food was stored in a barrel.

I generally treat elves in a manner befitting their benefit to my fortress.

So far, bringing me wood, booze, exotic brewables, above ground seeds, and rare animals has meant I tend to actually treat them well -- load 'em down with all the useless junk my stonecrafters make.

If they decide to stop the shipments of the good stuff and bring me nothing but endless pages of rope reed cloth, I might change my tune.

I might also change my tune when their tree-fell capping diplomats return.
