Apparently one of my guys went through the whole process because I just got the "urist McMoody created a masterpiece!" message. How do I find this artifact so I can look at it? I dont know what profession it was made for.

Its funny, but I never even noticed him get moody.

Come to think of it, it probably is a furniture peice, because that was the only thing going at the time. But I still cant find it! It should have a special name when I use the 'k' key right?

I believe it is the "l" key that allows you to view artefacts.

I finally found it through brute force searching and it is rather boring. Though that is to be expected since I have had no deaths, no injuries, no monsters at all. It is a figurine, is there any way to place it as a decoration in a room?

Whoops, he said artifact so many times I missed the masterpiece.
Masterpiece is not an artefact but just a really high quality regular creation, so it's probably something you are mass producing.
barrels, beds, doors, ect.

for an artifact you'll get a message that someone is posessed, has a strange mood, gets secretive or something alike, and ! the game will pauze !

a masterwork is just a very good work from a certain person. they get sad when too many of their masterworks disappear, but otherwise, well, if you have a grandmaster craftsman regularly turning out masterwork craft items.... well, nice

If you get the masters in more useful crafts like carpentry or masonry you can get beatiful bedrooms and door, which will make your dorfs hapy any time they see them. same with master engravers

For future reference, you can find any particular object in your fort via the z►Stocks screen. Just scroll to the item type, and Tab to expand the list on the right. Now scroll to your object and then (z)oom to it.

edit: you'll probably need a bookkeeper for this.

Apparently I have been pumping out masterpeice woodcrafts from a legendary carpenter O.O

i had a legendary +2 engraver. everyone was very happy from seeing his engravings everywhere

It was just that i constantly got a message saying Kul Mathlunul (or something) has engraved a masterwork

i get the same with master carpenters or masons making furniture. Other than making the dwarfs in such rooms happier it doesnt help much, though it would help with a noble room i guess (if you didnt know, when assigning an item, press -x- to view the exact items to choose from.

It'll let you choose the best products for public spaces or noble quarters
