That's an interesting design. Do you channel instead of using stairs?

Does anybody ever build double story rooms? Does it increase the value?

I channel on the main hallways. My fortresses must be caravan and wheelchair accessible. (Yes I know the caravans don't actually use three-tile paths or need ramps, but I like it.)

Also a room can't extend Z-levels, so it wouldn't increase the value.

Imagine you're driving a car. Push the gas pedal to the floor. Close your eyes. Remain this way for ten minutes while turning the wheel at whim. This is Dwarf Fortress.
I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

If I can find a desert I like, I'm going to build the great octopus fort, mostly above ground, rising two or three levels then down beneath the ground. Why an octopus in a desert? The same reason we do anything in DF. Because I can.

Hopefully eventually with a gold, or candy coating.

I don't know about increasing room value, but I like to stack rooms for Nobles, it gives them the absurdly valuable rooms they want without taking up a lot of space.
