Actually, we should aim for medium range. Tyranids will rip us in close quarters.

And I don't see why my plan is crazy: find o chakepoint, fill it with dakka, win. Where's the problem? Anything else would just dilute our firepower.

Because then they would just find another way around that one point and head straight to the bridge. Plus, your plan would have our flamers shoot into empty air, wasting ammo. That sounds pretty crazy to me.

They can't bypass us because we would be right in front of the Elevatus. As for burning ammo, well I assume we've got loads of fuel on a ship several km longs. And we only need to start shooting once they show up.

Didn't you read the thread? There are passageways and serviceways that aren't shown on the map! They could literally pop out anywhere!

Yup. But those passageways are only on this level, to get to the Bridge, they need the Elevatus pit. So the only place where we KNOW they have to pass is right in front of the Elevatus. Which is why I want all of our troops to be there holding the chokepoint rather than have them somewhere else.

...

Have you thought that they could come out from behind us, infront of the pit, and at the same time charge us from the front? And what if they send a carnifex straight at us? We would have nowhere to go if they do.

Which is why we've got only 3 squads actually blocking the chokepoint, with the fourth (led by us) that can move around, counter-charge or deal with smaller xenos coming from the side. Plus, that can happen everywhere, not matter where you put the chokepoint.

If they send a Carnifex... Well, it's not like we can run faster than it anyway. And we cannot just flee around we'd need to down it sooner or later, and having all our squad in a place ready to gun it down is the best way to do it.

Plus we do indeed have a place to escape, not just run away (in which case it could just outrun us) but escape: the Elevatus.

Also Genestealsers have nasty claws that allow them to rip through walls.

And even if we do, they'll likely take the path of least resistance, that is the corridor. And even if the don't, we have a squad watching our back.

Let's do this without all the probability, we're coming to conclusions before the battle has even started. What does a ship marine captain do when faced with a boarding party? Develop a plan to push them away and save his crewmen.

That is what we're going to do.

Now, which plan will we follow?

Eh, I honestly don't have a good plan for this actually. There is just too many things that could happen. Nothing is really stopping the 'nids from tearing down those doors, other than an open one.

I'll just say the hell with this paranoid planning phase and just go with Tiruin's plan.
