Hmmm. Is cook + general handyman OK? Just wondering.

5 squares per limb, if you raise the north orthoclase bridge before sacrificing one of them so they have a straight shot to the bottom of the chasm.

Do you still have that spot open? If so, I am so taking it. Sheet up later.
Yes

Ah well, I'm strapped into a tube of new-tech toothpaste waiting for launch so I've got nothing to do.

I did ask our friendly onboard computer a question though.
Oh dear, forgot about that.

And I appear to have quoted the wrong comment. Dear me, editing for sense making.

There's an upper limit at the things you can do with powdered food, plants and genetically modified algae( how else are you going to (easily) replace meat)
Also, I think every astronaut needs to be a general handyman.

Anyway, as long as everyone else is fine with it, I don't care. It says alot about GSO though, if their specialist is a cook( see prologue flavor text).

Also, how does everyone like the random bits of background? Feel free to criticize.

Nathaniel tapped his fingers against his thigh, the gel that surrounded him in the upright tank made the gesture come out with exaggerated slowness. His nose itched strongly inside the breathmask that kept him alive inside the tank, wearing a full face helmet for anything always seemed to make his nose or ears itch intolerably.
Of course floating nearly weightless in the tank beat being crushed to death and unable to breathe in the full might of earth's gravity, even if his nose did feel like it was undergoing civil war.

The tank had been bolted into the floor of the spaceplane in lieu of a seat, a friendly accommodation seeing that it was the company that made him take the trip down to earth to have his physical and psychological condition examined in the first place. Why on earth he couldn't have boarded with the GSO specialist was beyond him.

Stirring in the tank he shuffled his teeth around until he could bite the on switch for the tank's comm system. "Eddie, approximately how long until this bloody shuttle docks with you? I am in dire need of a shower and walk."

"Take-off permision has not yet been granted, but GSC is currently evaluating the issue. I can give you a radio connection to OpenGPAI 10.2.4, who has already boarded the ship. Or you can have a talk with your commander, who should be around there somewhere."

Hmmm. General smooth talker? Quartermaster maybe? Both? I like the idea of both.

Oh, I thought I was on it already. Plus, I quite like the bits of background.
Head to the craft's medical bay to double final check everything is where it should be, and then prepare for launch, mentally running through my procedures

The GSO Orbiter only has a small medical bay. The Mars Colonization vehicle(which I will be calling Prometheus in the future) however, is better equiped than some Western hospitals and fully loaded with all kinds of medicines. The most notable things are: an all in one medical scanner(only one type of scan at a time tough), a  robotical chirurg and a small quarantine zone.

P.S.:@ Superior Tomato Seems logical to me for the GSO to put one of their specialist in that position. You can be some kind of scientist to.

P.P.S. Also will everyone that hasn't yet done it PM me a message containing the possible secret agenda of their character, + any equipment they might decide to smuggle onboard.

Well, almost ready it is.
We just need to get  Boris and Connor onto the ship  Launch and dock
Superior_Tomato: You start boarding the Prometheus, having just arrived by shuttle from Satellite 5 (GSO main control). Feel free to roleplay the events before it(just make sure to get a little timeline reference above the post, to avoid confusion).

Or I could go and launch the ship, having everyone narrate events flashback stile.

Connor arrives at the spaceport and makes his way to the Prometheus, giving a passing wave to the receptionist.

Boris walks down the walkway to the Prometheus, still angry from his last interview nearly two weeks ago. His loft is sold, and the remainder of his worldy goods are in a storage unit in Moscow, which he hopes he'll remember the location of when he gets home. This time, there are no reporters, no pictures in a magazine, no broken promises. He's going into the unknown... as an unknown. He steps in the spacecraft, and without a word, takes his position and buckles him. He pulls the oxygen mask down over his face and closes his eyes.

He picks up a radio headset and says into the microphone.

"Boris Anchova, GSO number eight one nine alpha zulu frank, prepared for takeoff. "

Finally, the GSO Orbiter departs from the spaceport, lightning up the nightly sky. As the ship flies upward, you can see the lights of the GSO satelites and every five minutes a falling star streaks past the sky. When the ship reaches the higher atmosphere, you are tractated a rather spectacular sight; a particularly large piece of debris entered the atmosphere and you it's firey trail beneath you. [1]You make it through the debris field unscatched and continue on your way to the Orbital dock. You can see GSO's satelite 5, multiple habitation facilities and several satelites of the Earths Orbital Defense network. You fly past an Helium-3transporter, past some space telescopes and then finally dock at the station. Everyone exits, is but on the Prometheus, and final preparations are made. You just need to ask the dockyard to deprssurize the room and open the door , and then your free to go.

Everyone is in or boarding the MCV, Prometheus. You can take off from the orbital dock at any time, just tell the tower your ready and fly the ship out.
If you want any extra information about any other piece of the background, ask the AI, he knows.
Also, when your ready for the timejump from prologue to Mars tell me.
