Nir Nitem - New Succession Game
« on: December 06, 2011, 02:19:41 am »

Hey all,

I've decided to start a new succession game, with vanilla DF, but haven't ever organized one before. Anyway, I'm just going to throw caution to the wind and go for it.

So far, I have created the world that we will be using, but the actual embark site and starting build are the choice of the first talented player to join.

The current player's turn ends when they see "Spring Has Arrived!", and the save will be passed on to the next player in the list.

List of Rules:

Each player will have 1 single week to complete their turn.

If the player doesn't finish their turn, and both the current player and the next player agree, the next player will start playing from where the current player left off. The next player's turn still ends at spring of the next year.

If you are an advanced player, and have an idea for a complex, destructive trap, by all means, build it. However, if you cannot finish your contraption before the end of your turn, don't even start it. If a large multi-year project has the participation of all of the players who will be building it during their turn, and as long as it is finished before the last player's spring, it is acceptable.

More of an individual rule, but it would be best if there were no naming of dwarves unless you are on the player list.

It'd be great if you could keep a detailed report of your turn, but it is not required.

And that's all! Below is the actual game info, such as the player list and screenshots of the world.

Note: THE FIRST PLAYER'S TURN HAS STARTED!

Key:

Blue = Done
Green = Current
Yellow = waiting
Red = skipped

Player List:

Screenshots of the world and fort:

(Will be added after first turn)

Hi

I'll be in as Doctor Valrandir, with 2 points in each doctor skills.

I could take the first or second year.

As for the starting area, I suggest an Hot forest with a river, and confirmed ore of iron and flux so that steel can be made.

Start with an anvil, 10 of all seeds, a dedicated farmer and metalworker (weapon/armor at 5).
We could also do with a swordman warrior (5 swordman, 5 teacher).

Those starting preparations sound great, but it's up to the first overseer to make the embark preparations. Would that be you then?

As much as I've always wanted to join a succession game, I've never made a fort past two-three years, but I will be watching.

Sign me up. I've never done a succession game before but I've playing for a while so I should be fine.

I'll be a mason with 3 points in engraving and mason and 2 points in building designer and mechanic.

Will there be a graphical tile set, because if there isn't, I'm sorry I can't play

Sounds good!
Would you like to be the first player on the list?
and also, because the map is played in your version of df, it will have a graphics set if one is already installed for you

I would like a year please.
Usually I would go about building crazy stuff in all of my forts, although I might take a gentler approach this turn.

I've never taken part in a succession game before, this looks like a good one to join if you'll have me. I know somewhat what I'm doing in df.

What about the custom profession tags? Personally I use those very heavily in conjunction with dwarf therapist.

Dorfing is only for people taking a turn, would you like to do one?

And for the rest of you, you have been added to the player list. Now that we have a player to go first, I will upload the save and start the fortress. This will all be happening tomorrow

well personally im pretty inexperienced, but since this is vanilla, i should do fine as long as nothing majorly fun happens like aquifers and such. Might need to do my turn a few times though.
