Google Search Trends

I found a great new feature in Google! It allows you to see the records of what has been searched for and in what proportions. The folloing link compares Paper Towels to Dwarf Fortress and Lolcats.

Dwarf Fortress, Lolcat, Paper Towels

Well, it beat the Towels. There was a really big spike for DF in late 2007. What could that be?

Could it have been 3D?  Or Aaron Williams?

I thought it was funny that lolcats are more popular in most countries, but in Finland, they like Dwarf Fortress more.

I can has Fortress?

Love is a bit shaky, with a slight increase at the end of each year. It (menaces with?) spikes in February.

It is important to note here that while hate doesn't have the massive highs of love, it is far more stable.

Good spikes in March. Evil has had a few bumps but remains fairly constant.

Last one I swear.

Immorality is barely a blip here. Morality seems to lull in the summer months and experiences a sharp, nasty drop around New Years. Makes sense to me.

It might be worth noting that in the Dwarf Fortress / Lolcat / Paper Towel one, Dwarf Fortress should be entered as "Dwarf Fortress" to get more accurate results. I think.

There seems to be a difference.

A sad but predictable decrease in the searches for ASCII, showing the general trend of recent videogames. . . Oddly enough, South America and Mexico seem to be the most interested.

It's a close one

It's fun to see that Finland has superior results among countries. Although I knew that we have a sophisticated taste in games (King of Dragon Pass sold very well, Silent Storm was game of the year etc), there hasn't been a single word in gaming magazines.

Maybe it's just because of the large amount of alcohol consumed this evening, but this post has reduced me to hysterics.  A++++ would read again.

Well, there was this, in November of 2007, but I'm not sure how much that accounts for.

Dwarf Fortress only
It seems the country where DF is the most popular is Finland.

I wonder why there is a spike for 'time' twice a year?  Maybe tax- and election- ?
